Apogee Releases MetaRecorder Version 2.0 Audio Recording App with Timecode for iPhone

Apogee announced the release of MetaRecorder Version 2.0, the first two-channel 24-bit/96kHz audio recording app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to offer intuitive multi-take recording, tagging and file organization for any field recording scenario. Version 2.0 adds support for the new UltraSync BLUE module by Timecode Systems with an in-app purchase along with updated compatibility with new Apogee products like Jam+ and MiC+.

Timecode Systems, a British manufacturer of wireless sync technology, introduced UltraSync BLUE, the first solution to use the company's new patented timecode sync and control protocol to transmit timecode to a recording device over Bluetooth with sub-frame accuracy. UltraSync BLUE uses Bluetooth pairing to connect to a device. This enables timecode to be transmitted wirelessly from UltraSync BLUE directly into the media file of a connected device.

TASCAM's DA-6400 Multitrack Digital Recorder, originally introduced in 2015, has been given a powerful new upgrade, with the new Version 2.0 firmware update adding a host of new functions and enhancements. In addition to a variety of performance and functionality improvements, the new Version 2.0 update incorporates two important new features: Theater Play mode and Playlist support.

When it comes to field recording, Sound Devices continues to push the envelope with its expanded range of solutions. With the new MixPre-10T, the Reedsburg, Wisconsin, -based company now offers a compact, 10-input/12 tracks of polyphonic WAV file recording and mixer with an expanded feature set, including built-in Timecode generator and reader, balanced outputs, diverse powering, and auto copying. An ideal solution for production sound mixers, field recordists, sound designers, and musicians.

Lectrosonics announced the introduction of a new micro digital recorder, the PDR (Personal Digital Recorder) for professional use. For situations in which the distance is extreme or where using a wireless microphone is not practical, the PDR recorder can capture professional quality audio, synchronized with timecode. The tiny size and rounded shape make the PDR unobtrusive and easy to place in garments and costumes, and easy to conceal when used as a “plant” microphone to capture environmental or location sound.

The DA-6400 records 64 tracks at 48kHz/24-bit or 32 tracks at 96kHz/24-bit. Included on the rear panel are SMPTE timecode, word clock, RS-422, parallel and Gigabit Ethernet connections. Designed for live recording, the new Tascam recorder includes an internal SSD Drive and features MADI and Dante optional audio networking.

British company Timecode Systems introduced its new :wave device at the 2015 NAB Show. :wave is an audio-focused, highly accurate timecode and genlock generator with integrated RF transceiver and Wi-Fi. The new device also features hardware support for communication with Sound Devices audio mixers and recorders.
