Tymphany Expands R&D Capabilities with New UK Design Center

In direct response to increasing demand and market expansion, Tymphany has announced the opening of its new R&D facility, located in Bridgend, Wales. The UK Design Center will be led by Tymphany veteran George Bullimore and will have two primary focuses: high-performance transducer R&D and early-engagement system design and prototyping for professional and premium audio customers worldwide.

The DFM-2535R00-08 compression driver I examined this month came from Tymphany. This is the first compression driver in the company’s new three model compression driver line from Peerless by Tymphany. The DFM-2535R00-08 has a 1” throat exit diameter and a 1.4” titanium diaphragm with a polyimide surround. This is driven by 35.5 mm diameter voice coil wound with round copper wire on an aluminum former (ASV). This article was originally published in Voice Coil, August 2017.

Peerless by Tymphany announced that its STW-350F188PR01-04, a 15” subwoofer built for high-performance HiFi applications, previously previewed at trade-shows, is now available for distribution as part of the brand's catalog. The new STW-350, features an 8” voice coil, triple suspension, and a dual-spider design, providing superior low-frequency performance in a smaller-than-traditional enclosure.

The newest product line from Peerless by Tymphany is the SDF series of woofers, with sizes ranging from 10-15”, built for more bass in smaller-than-traditional enclosures. Designed with a 3” voice coil and a robust ferrite magnet system which enables higher power-handling, enhanced low-end response, and more linearity, the company is now shipping the SDF-250 10” Woofer, built for high-performance, high-excursion consumer and hifi applications.

As a result of a new distribution agreement, Peerless by Tymphany’s high-end drivers are now available globally through global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Electronics. Since 2005, Tymphany has manufactured drivers under the Peerless, Vifa, and Tymphany brands. Recently all these brands were unified under a single brand name: Peerless by Tymphany.
