Qobuz, the Paris-based online music streaming and download music service, has been named the Official High-Resolution Streaming Service for the upcoming 15th Annual Rocky Mountain International Audio Fest (RMAF), the largest high-end consumer audio show in North America. Preparing for its scheduled launch in the North American market, Qobuz also announced key appointments in its US operations, including naming music industry veteran Dan Mackta as Managing Director USA.

Sonos Announces Sonos Beam Smart Soundbar for TV and Music

During a special event in San Francisco Sonos unveiled Sonos Beam, a new compact smart soundbar with support for 80+ music services, as well as support for Amazon Alexa at launch (with multiple voice assistants to come over time). With Beam, Sonos combined three products into one – a smart speaker, a powerful soundbar, and a music and streaming center for the living room. Beam connects to the Sonos home sound system in multi-room set-ups. The Sonos Beam should be available from July 17 at $399 US, already supporting Apple AirPlay 2.

An invite-only audience in Austin experienced the debut of “MQA Live”, a new way for fans to connect to musicians. Jake Isaac and his band performed from London's Rocket Studios – the first time a live performance has been streamed in real time using MQA's technology and a new reference real time MQA encoder. The performance was listened to live in an Austin home on a variety of devices to recreate everyday listening environments.
