The new release of LoudSoft's FINECone 2020 software is a welcome and important update for the loudspeaker industry. LoudSoft seems to have listened to its customers and added a new Geometry Modeler, which makes simulating cone frequency response much easier for engineers using FINECone. FINECone is an acoustic Finite Element dome/cone simulation application to assist on the design of new drivers, calculating frequency responses and detecting problems in existing designs.

The CRMS-SRHV surround is a 2-way passive-filtered loudspeaker, featuring the patented Alcons pro-ribbon driver technology, and designed to meet all requirements of current and future immersive surround sound formats. Alcons Audio also introduced the QB242 Arrayable Subwoofer, a modular bass element, designed as a fully-scalable low-frequency extension (LFE) system to the QR24 line-source column system, or as arrayable LFE system with any Alcons pro-ribbon system.

It refers to the Linear Suspension Test set (LST Lite), a hardware and software add-on for the Klippel QC loudspeaker end-of-line testing system. Redefining the Shape of Sound: Resonado Introduces Flat Core Speaker Technology at CES 2020

Resonado, a South Bend, Indiana company founded at the University of Notre Dame, has a new take on electrodynamic speaker topology. The company developed a reconfigured speaker with a planar voice coil mounted perpendicularly to its flat “race track” diaphragm, to which Resonado calls Flat Core Speaker (FCS) technology. The ingenious architecture enables slightly thinner, lighter, and more efficient speakers than conventional equivalents. Applications are wide-ranging from soundbars, home theater, column speakers, automotive to headphone drivers.

Loudspeaker engineers have few choices for professional forums. The Audio Engineering Society (AES) is an outstanding international organization although not entirely focused on speakers. ALTI (formerly ALMA) is loudspeaker-centric but does not have a strong base in China. And although you may not have heard about iSEAT, for most Chinese speaker engineers that is their preferred professional organization. The International Symposium on Electro-Acoustic Technologies (ISEAT), founded in 2007, is held every two years and has successfully conducted six sessions.

Pascal announced availability of its latest U-A1 and U-A1D amplifier extension modules , which complement the company’s solutions offering to include 3-way studio monitor designs, augmenting its U-PRO series modules to provide an additional HF channel power option. The U-A1 and U-A1D are single channel amplifier modules without Switch Mode Power Supplies, directly interfacing with U-PRO series modules (from which they draw mains power) to offer 3-channel amplification configurations.
