Mixxim Offers Nostalgia in High Resolution Audio with Fourth Generation of MIXXTAPE Cassette

The cassette is back! Again! Mixxim is launching the fourth-generation MIXXTAPE. The high-resolution audio player will be available on Kickstarter starting June 15. With a nostalgic, old-school look, MIXXTAPE offers music lovers a new experience, now supporting high resolution digital audio. The compact portable player is designed for those who are not yet into streaming services, miss the 3.5mm headphone jack, and just like to carry their favorite music with them at all times.

Another week and more audio products are pitched on crowdfunding platforms. Some products have new or clearly differentiated arguments - sometimes so new or different that it's hard to believe! - while others are simply well-designed or products that have to rely on better quality and technical arguments that consumer's will find hard to understand or believe. The latter is the reason why we decided to write about the new Dense Audio USB audio DAC, called Adapt. This is a product designed by an experienced team, who have ventured into creating a new company and launch a product "that could set a new standard and be used for a long time in this fast-changing world."

Virtually everything has been tried in the world of personal audio! Everything? Not yet... Streamz is promoting a crowdfunding campaign for headphones with an integrated player and SD card for internal storage, that are also able to stream music directly from Pandora or Spotify thanks to built-in Wi-Fi, all without needing a smartphone. After 4 years of development and promoting the concept, Streamz launched on Kickstarter.

There are all sorts of projects on Kickstarter, including those for electronics and DIY audio enthusiasts. French company Audiophonics has successfully funded a combination of both, leveraging the Raspberry Pi 3 and ESS Sabre DACs in its RaspTouch Open Source high-end audio player and DAC with touchscreen. Those interested still have three days left to pledge for one of the available options on Kickstarter, from the simple aluminum chassis to a complete kit and top ES9018K2M output DAC.

COBBLE is a new audio project currently being promoted on Kickstarter, promising the world’s first battery-free, ultra-light, and iPhone-mic-compatible portable audio amplifier and DAC for the iPhone. Weighing less than an ounce, PEBBLE can be used anywhere, supports 24-bit 192kHz audio and features an interesting “pebble-shaped” design.
