HEDD Audio, the Berlin-based manufacturer of studio monitors and headphones, announced the launch of the successor to the original HEDDphone ONE Air Motion Transformer (AMT) headphones, introduced in 2019. The new HEDDphone TWO are powered by advances in AMT technology and informed by profound user feedback. The company calls it "a turbo-charged evolution." The open-back over-ear driver, headband and strap system were completely redesigned, resulting in a 25% weight reduction of the headphones to 550g in total.

The small oval diaphragm driver is built on a proprietary injection molded polymer four-spoke frame with the cone assembly consisting of a black anodized aluminum cone, with a round black anodized aluminum dust cap. Powering the cone assembly is a dual neodymium motor with a copper cap shorting ring and a milled return cup with black emissive coating.

The focus for this Test Bench is the 2FE24 2.5” full-range driver from FaitalPRO, an interesting small diameter full-range design suitable for pro audio applications such as PA line source speakers. The 2FE24 is built on a proprietary injection-molded polycarbonate four-spoke frame, and the cone assembly consists of an uncoated paper cone and dust cap, low loss half-roll NBR surround, and elevated cloth spider. Powering the cone assembly is a neodymium ring magnet and a milled return cup fitted to a 19mm diameter voice coil wound with aluminum wire on a Kapton former.
