MIPI Alliance Announces New Soundwire Device Class for Audio (SDCA) Specification

The MIPI Alliance, the international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, announced the release of MIPI SoundWire Device Class for Audio (MIPI SDCA) v1.0. The new specification enables standardized mechanisms to interact with host-controllable audio devices, such as microphones and amplifiers, connected via a MIPI SoundWire interface. This significantly simplifies and streamlines platform development.

ADAM Audio announced the launch of a complete new range of studio monitors, with a total of 5 models. The new A Series is the successor of the original and most popular designs from the Berlin-based company, now adding rotatable HPS waveguides for the company's X-ART tweeter, DSP-based room correction and voicing with remote control software. The most significant innovation is the DSP-integration of automated room correction in partnership with Sonarworks.

The Linux Foundation Adopts Sound Open Firmware Project Enabling Developers to Adapt Operating Systems for Audio Devices

During the Embedded Linux Conference in Portland, OR, The Linux Foundation announced that Sound Open Firmware (SOF) has become a Linux Foundation project. With significant engineering and code contributions from Intel Corporation, SOF includes a digital signal processing (DSP) firmware and an SDK that together provide infrastructure and development tools for developers working on audio or signal processing. Intel and Google support SOF and invite others to join them in advancing the project.
