Following last year's evolution of the (former) European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) to the new (global) acronym Expert Imaging & Sound Association, coinciding with the admission of new members from all over the world, including the United States, the traditional winners of its 2019-2020 Awards have been announced. As always, audioXpress highlights all the audio-related winers in the Hi-Fi, Home Theatre Audio, In-Car and Mobile Devices categories. And there are a few surprises!

Test Bench: Eton 4-512/C8/25 RP Bass-Midrange

The driver for this month’s Test Bench explication came from a German OEM driver manufacturer and is from Eton’s home audio Orchestra line of drivers. I asked Eton to send a model from this line, the 4-512/C8/25 RP, mostly because of the unique cone. All of the cones in the Orchestra line are serrated paper cones, which is somewhat reminiscent of the orange sliced paper cones in the Scan-Speak Revelator line. These Test Bench samples came from Germany. From Eton I received the 29HD2, its neodymium motor tweeter, with a fairly rich feature set that includes an aluminum faceplate, a 28 mm diameter magnesium diaphragm with a ceramic coating on both sides protected by a cosmetically attractive grill/phase plug, and driven by an aluminum former wound with round copper-clad aluminum wire (CCAW).
