Silicon Labs Expands Portfolio of Automotive Infotainment Solutions

Silicon Labs introduced a complete portfolio of receivers/audio processors and multi-standard digital radio ICs designed to deliver best-in-class AM/FM and digital radio performance for the global car radio market. The expanded portfolio includes AM/FM radio receivers with integrated audio processing paired with digital radio coprocessors and data receivers.

Harman International Industries, the worldwide market leader in car audio announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Bang & Olufsen Automotive car audio business. Bang & Olufsen sound systems are available in a wide range of Audi, Aston Martin, BMW and Mercedes-Benz car models.

Texas Instruments released a family of six new audio ADCs, combining professional performance with portable integration. The PCM1865 family includes devices with a dynamic range as high as 110 dB. TI’s new multichannel devices simplify audio front-end design while reducing standby power consumption.

The new Audison bit Play HD is the first high-resolution music player specifically developed for automotive applications, allowing for a vastly superior listening experience to CD and compressed MP3 files. The manufacturer of car audio products designed a complete solution with internal or external storage and control apps for Apple and Android devices.

The new Accordo2 family from STMicroelectronics offers a fully integrated audio subsystem, including media decoding, audio routing, sound processing, and analog audio inputs and outputs, as well as an independent secure CAN (Controller Area Network) microcontroller subsystem. Until now, car infotainment manufacturers had to use multiple devices to achieve the same result that a single Accordo2 device delivers.
