Linkplay Technology, a WiFi audio solution provider from Palo Alto, CA, announced the broad availability of a WiFi audio solution that integrates with the Alexa Voice Service (AVS). The integration makes it easier and faster for speaker manufacturers to bring devices with Alexa to their customers. Jam Audio already used the WiFi audio solution for its speaker with Alexa, Jam Voice, with push to talk technology. The speaker is available as of October 30, 2016.

Logitech announced a new Amazon Alexa skill that enables voice control of the entire living room entertainment experience using a Logitech Harmony Hub remote control with Alexa-enabled devices such as the Amazon Echo or Echo Dot. When the skill is enabled on Amazon Echo or Amazon Echo Dot, users can start and stop Harmony Activities, control entertainment devices, or even select favorite channels, using only their voice.

The Audio Engineering Society’s Audio Guidelines for Over the Top Television and Video Streaming (AGOTTVS) technical group was formed in early 2016 to study the many issues related to audio loudness variations in distributed video content. After four-and-a-half months of work by 50 members, the group has announced the publication of preliminary guidelines.

Founded in 2002, Sonos is now present in more than 60 countries, and already supports dozens of streaming music providers. Still, the company’s networked home sound systems have remained a closed-garden concerning software and remote control integration. Now, Sonos wants to change all that and announced new partnerships with Amazon for voice control, a new level of software integration with Spotify, and control integration with AV control manufacturers such as Crestron, Lutron, Savant, Control4, and iPort, among others.
