Riot, the service of Rethink Technology Research a research and analyst company focusing on IoT, video and wireless, say that the revenues of Smart Hhome as a Service (SHaaS) will rise to $15.75 billion by 2023. The study is entitled “Smart Home as a Service – Awakened from Sleep by a Deep Voice - Forecast to 2023”. The analyst firm confirms Communications Services Providers (CSPs) will need to turn to consumer voice platforms to explore the full potential of the smart home market.

The level of interest in adding a premium audio system as an option at vehicle purchase increased from 2017 to 2018 in both the US and Western Europe. In the new 2018 Premium Audio Report from the Strategy Analytics’ In-Vehicle UX (IVX) team, consumers in the US, France, Germany, Italy, and the UK were surveyed in respect to their interest and willingness to pay for an in-vehicle premium audio system. Bose was the preferred brand, while Sony gets the most recognition among consumers.

At the Barcelona, 2018 Mobile World Congress, Sony Mobile announced its Xperia Ear Duo truly wireless concept, which should be reaching the market in Spring 2018. According to Sony, the Xperia Ear Duo was built to reimagine the wireless headset with a bold new Spatial Acoustic Conductor open-ear design, featuring notifications and environmental awareness, with Google Assistant or Siri support. A similar design is available on the Open-ear Stereo Headset STH40D wired model.

The comprehensive new research finds that the professional microphone market is expected to surpass 7 million units by 2021, up from 4.6 million in 2016. In 2016, a little more than half of vendor revenues came from wireless microphones.

At the 143rd AES International Convention, Sony Electronics’ Pro Audio Division introduced prototypes of three new Hi-Resolution microphones. Designed for professional studio and home recording applications, the new Hi-Res microphones are capable of extended frequency response to 50kHz. At the show, Sony also previewed its next the generation of DWX Digital Wireless systems, improving on latency, bandwidth and multi-channel density and adding Dante connectivity.
