Schiit Audio announced the Jotunheim 2 modular, differential headphone amplifier and preamplifier. This updated model builds on the success of the original Jotunheim, now with higher power output and additional versatility. It also incorporates Schiit's unique Nexus fully discrete, differential topology and debuts Schiit's Continuity S output stage, which offers higher efficiency and improved linearity. Jotunheim 2 retains the same price as the original Jotunheim, starting at $399 with no optional module installed.

Yes, it was strange to fly to Denver, CO so early in September while most of the industry was on the way to Berlin, Germany for another edition of the International Funkausstellung (IFA), the gigantic consumer electronics and appliance show, which rivals CES in visitor numbers. But the fact is, I don’t regret it in the least. Since the 2019 edition of the Rocky Mountain International Audio Fest (RMAF) changed dates to September 6-8, and the CEDIA Expo takes place shortly after also in Denver, it was a great incentive to opt for Colorado instead.

Schiit Audio announced the introduction of its third-generation Lyr headphone amp/preamp. Using Schiit’s new Coherence hybrid single-tube/solid state architecture, new Continuity constant-transconductance output stage, the same modular design as Jotunheim, Lyr 3 is available now at schiit.com, starting at $499. Schiit Audio introduced new Bifrost and Bifrost Multibit upgraded units with USB input as standard. This upgradable DAC now offers optical, coaxial, and USB inputs and is available in the Bifrost Multibit configuration with proprietary closed-form DSP-based digital filter and Analog Devices’ AD5547CRUZ D/A converter, or as the affordable Bifrost version, using an AKM AK4490 D/A.
