Technics Announces SL-100C Entry-Level Direct Drive Turntable

Technics announced the availability of its new SL-100C Direct Drive Turntable. Featuring the iconic characteristics of Technics turntables, such as the coreless direct drive motor and a high-precision S-shaped aluminum tonearm, it comes in at an even more affordable price point - $999.99 - than the highly acclaimed SL-1500C, which uses the same direct drive construction.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Technics SL-1200 Series, a limited number of special edition SL-1200M7L direct drive turntables will be released by the Japanese brand. This is a special edition model based on the SL-1200MK7, which was released in 2019. The 50th Anniversary model will be available in seven limited-edition colors to reflect the street culture that continues to inspire generations of DJs.

On March 20, 2018, the "Record Day," Panasonic Corporation released the video of the world's first full orchestra performance featuring Technics turntables as the only instruments, under the Technics brand's theme, "Rediscover Music." It's basically a room full of "turntablists" scratching away over classical music. Technics created a special website for "The Philharmonic Turntable Orchestra."

As promised, Technics announced the return of its direct-drive turntable based on a newly designed direct-drive motor. The Technics 50th anniversary limited edition Grand Class SL-1200GAE and non-limited Grand Class SL-1200G have been developed for a new generation looking to rediscover and experience the sound quality of analogue vinyl discs.

Panasonic announced the return of Technics brand at the IFA2014 show in Berlin, reaffirming its original promise of “technology that faithfully reproduces original sounds”. New Technics-branded hi-fi audio systems will be released first in the European market in December 2014 and later in other parts of the world.
