German loudness control and broadcast audio processing specialist Jünger Audio introduced a new intelligent monitoring loudness processor for the new MPEG-H TV audio system. Fraunhofer’s Audio & Multimedia division has been extremely active in the latest industry shows, promoting the MPEG-H Interactive and Immersive TV Audio standard. Demonstrations at NAB 2015, in cooperation with Qualcomm and Technicolor, showcased the new audio system for ATSC 3.0 and Internet streaming in a complete broadcast chain showing live sports and music productions.

Advanced Television Systems Committee Begins Review of ATSC 3.0 Audio System Proposals

On December 2014, the ATSC issued a Call for Proposals for a comprehensive audio system for the next generation ATSC 3.0 digital television standard. Dolby (with Atmos), DTS (with DTS:X) and a consortium comprising Technicolor, Fraunhofer and Qualcomm (jointly promoting MPEG-H Audio) have submitted their audio systems. Now, the ATSC has begun its technical review of the three detailed proposals.
