Test Bench: MAG Audio 10N501 Woofer

This Test Bench characterizes the 10N501, a distributed neodymium magnet motor 10” woofer from Ukrainian pro sound OEM manufacturer MAG Audio. The MAG 10N501’s removable self-centering motor system is comprised of 12 28 mm × 8 mm polished neodymium slugs sandwiched between an 8 mm front plate and a two-part, cleverly designed T-yoke. This submission comes from a company new to Test Bench, MAG Audio, from Ukraine. The M0610 pro sound midrange driver MAG submitted features a cast-aluminum frame, a lightweight curved profile uncoated paper cone, a 2” diameter uncoated paper dust cap, and a 1.5” (38-mm) diameter voice coil wound on a Kapton former with edge wound copper-clad aluminum ribbon wire. Compliance is provided by a flat foam surround and a 4.5” diameter flat cloth spider. A 110-mm × 15-mm detachable self-centering strontium ferrite magnet with a black coated back plate powers the unit. This article was originally published in Voice Coil, November 2013.

Displayed for the first time at the Prolight+Sound 2016 show in Frankfurt, MAG Audio announces the release of its highly efficient neodymium 15” and 18” woofers for modern lightweight high-power subwoofer units. Designed and manufactured in the company’s headquarters in Ukraine, the new transducers have already been tested in new professional audio speaker series presented by MAG Audio, and received favorable reviews from industry experts.

Translating an “alternative transducer design philosophy”, MAG Audio from Ukraine released two new 10” and 12” neodymium drivers, which the company assures are able to achieve a clearer, precise and subjectively more pleasing sound with considerable sound pressure at decreased input power levels.
