BMS Speakers introduced several new drivers at the Prolight+Sound 2019 show in Frankfurt, some still in prototype stage, others ready to enter production. Among the drivers now confirmed to be released are two new patented coaxial designs, including BMS' first 10" coaxial driver, the 10C262, and a new 12" coaxial transducer, the 12C382. Also new are the company's next generation 1" compression drivers, the BMS 5530 and 5531, taking BMS' ultra-low intermodulation distortion ring diaphragm to a new standard in size to output ratio, and providing the lowest crossover available at that size.

This Test Bench is about Celestion's CDX1-1447 1” ferrite motor compression driver coupled with Celestion’s H1-7050 ‘No Bell’ 70° × 50° horn. Features for the CDX1-1447 include a one piece polyimide diaphragm and surround, with an exit (throat) diameter of 25.4 mm (1.0”). The horn is a new and rather innovative design. Yamaha has launched its latest MT Series headphones, the HPH-MT8 and HPH-MT5, developed to provide the high levels of precision and fidelity required for professional monitoring applications. Like the HPH-MT7 model, introduced in 2015, the new MT Series headphones are designed to deliver flat, high-resolution sound with precise stereo imaging and faithful source signal reproduction, while providing a high level of isolation and comfort to ward off fatigue during extended monitoring sessions.

Translating an “alternative transducer design philosophy”, MAG Audio from Ukraine released two new 10” and 12” neodymium drivers, which the company assures are able to achieve a clearer, precise and subjectively more pleasing sound with considerable sound pressure at decreased input power levels.

This test bench looks at the ES140Ti-8 5.5” midwoofer, which is another model from Dayton Audio’s new Esoteric line. Features for the ES-140Ti are similar to the companion model ES-180Ti and include a well configured proprietary six-spoke cast-aluminum frame with narrow 9-mm wide spokes to minimize reflections back into the cone. The HPH-MT7 combines custom drivers equipped with CCAW voice coils and powerful neodymium magnets to deliver flat, high-resolution sound, for long working- (or enjoyment) sessions.

LaVoce introduced two new ferrite subwoofer drivers intended for the installation market and small enclosures, including a new 10” SSF102.40 shallow mounting subwoofer with a total mounting depth of less than 4” (10cm) using a 2.4” voice coil. The 8” SSF082.00L is a new powerful long throw subwoofer with a 2” voice coil.
