Zound Industries Redesigns Iconic Marshall Wireless On-Ear Headphones

October 1 2020, 00:15
Swedish headphone and speaker designer and developer Zound Industries International successfully refreshed the iconic Marshall Major on-ear headphones. The new Major IV is not only the strongest iteration and refinement of the iconic design, but it also achieves the increasingly important goal of sustainability by using recycled plastics, with electronics designed for minimal environmental impact. And it helps that the sound is also the best ever in the range.

After focusing on support for voice assistants and improving Bluetooth robustness in the prior generation, the Major IV from Marshall now offers 80+ solid hours of wireless Bluetooth 5.0 playtime - more than three full days of power - wireless charging, quick charging and a new and improved ergonomic design. The addition of wireless charging makes it even easier to charge, while only 15 minutes of charging provide 15 hours of playtime with the Major IV. And if users ever find themselves without power, they can always plug the 3.5 mm cord to keep listening.

Custom-tuned 40mm dynamic drivers with great sensitivity (99dB SPL - 100mV @ 1kHz) deliver strong bass, smooth mids and brilliant treble. And because the battery lasts for a long time, the whole design was refined to provide comfort over long listening sessions. The ear cushions in the Major IV are softer to the touch and more faithfully fit the shape of different ears, rendering the headphones more comfortable and wearable over time. And the new fold clip means that the Major IV folds away into an even more compact size, while the earcups are protected from too much wear and tear.

With the multi-directional control knob users can play, pause, skip and adjust the volume of the device, as well as power the headphones on or off. Phone functionality is also included so users can easily answer, reject or end a call. The tactile and efficient control knob, textured in black vinyl, provides the rugged durability that’s necessary for everyday life.

The Marshall Major IV headphones will be available to order online for $149 USD/EUR starting October 14, 2020.
