Thum+Mahr GmbH Sells System Integration Business and Establishes Yellowtec Brand as Separate Company

July 14 2022, 01:25
Yellowtec is a brand firmly established in broadcast environments, particularly in radio stations. With the popularity of home studio, podcasting and web streaming, Yellowtec saw explosive growth in its m!ka mounting system business, originally designed for radio microphones, but now adjustable to computer monitors or even webcams. Thum+Mahr GmbH, where the Yellowtec brand was created, now decided to spin-off that business into a separate company.

On July 1st, 2022, Broadcast Solutions GmbH - a major systems integration company in the broadcast industry - announced that it had acquired the system integration division of Thum+Mahr GmbH in Monheim (Germany). After more than 40 years of successful activity, the managing partners of Thum+Mahr GmbH, Peter Thum and Hanno Mahr, have decided to transfer the system integration division under the umbrella of the Broadcast Solutions Group and thus also arrange a business succession.

Thum+Mahr GmbH will continue at the Monheim am Rhein location as an independent subsidiary of the Broadcast Solutions Group with an existing experienced team of 18 employees. Peter Thum and Hanno Mahr, with their many years of experience, will continue to support the company as advisors. Stefan Mertens, who has also been Managing Director of Thum+Mahr GmbH since 2004, will continue to manage the business of Thum+Mahr systems activities as COO. Stefan Breder, CEO of the Broadcast Solutions Group, will act as CEO of Thum+Mahr.

At the time of this announcement, it was unclear what would happen to Yellowtec as a brand, which had clearly already become a significant part of Thum+Mahr overall business and was also located at the same Monheim am Rhein location, in Germany. The confirmation arrived in a separate announcement that, after more than 30 years as a brand of Thum+Mahr, Yellowtec GmbH is now established as a separate company.

"Using the Yellowtec brand as a company title is a consistent step to document the success of the brand. We are pleased that Yellowtec has become a well-known and recognized synonym for innovative and high-quality broadcast products in recent years," states Hanno Mahr (pictured above), which was one of the founders and leading force behind the brand, now taking the role of CEO for Yellowtec.

"I am very proud of the whole team and of the fact that Yellowtec now stands for itself as an independent company," expresses Andy Mikutta (Sales Director, Yellowtec GmbH). "This will give our operations another boost to further enhance our products and market reach."

Reinhard Gallos (Product Manager, Yellowtec GmbH) adds: “We will enrich the market with additional innovative products. There will be a few surprises!" For Yellowtec‘s business partners, nothing will change except from the company name. All communication data and the headquarter in Monheim am Rhein will remain the same. The entire team remains unchanged, too.
