Røde Announces Wireless Go II Updates and Integration with Røde Connect Podcasting and Streaming Software

October 18 2021, 06:10
Røde Microphones is increasingly displaying the brand as only Røde, even though microphones at the center of what the company does. The Sydney, Australia-based manufacturer continues to expand its valuable ecosystem of audio production tools, exploring designs, technologies and materials, hardware and software, to introduce new products and accessories, and continuing to improve its existing portfolio.

Anyone following Røde’s activities will see that the company puts out a number of accessories and product improvements at an impressive pace, meeting its users constantly evolving needs. The company just announced two world-first updates for the Wireless GO II dual channel wireless microphone system, making it even more powerful and easy to use.

The Røde Wireless GO II can now be set up on the go with iOS and Android devices via the new Røde Central Mobile app – the first time ever that a compact wireless microphone has been made fully configurable with a mobile app, giving users complete control of their device anywhere. The Wireless GO II can also now be used with Røde Connect, making it the only microphone of its kind to be fully integrated with podcasting or streaming software, allowing users to unlock their creativity in new and exciting ways. Both Røde Central Mobile and Røde Connect are available to download for free.

Røde Connect is a software solution for podcasting and streaming that emulates the popular RØDECaster Pro hardware console, and acts as a fully featured four-channel recording interface with seamless integration with video call, streaming applications, and much more. Now it can be used with two channels from the Wireless GO II microphones, plus two NT-USB Mini microphones.

Røde Central is the Wireless GO II’s companion app, which allows users to configure the microphone, unlock advanced features, and access the latest firmware updates. Initially released as a desktop app, Røde Central is now available on iOS and Android devices for adjusting settings on the fly, giving users more flexibility when recording in the field. This includes switching between ‘Merged’ and ‘Split’ recording mode, adjusting the gain settings, unlocking the fine gain control, activating the safety channel and more. Røde Central Mobile is available to download for free via the Røde Central page or from the App Store and Google Play.

Launched in early 2021, Røde Connect is a simple and powerful podcasting and streaming software. Previously only compatible with the NT-USB Mini microphones, the software can now be used with the Wireless GO II microphones, allowing users to podcast or stream on a computer with professional quality wireless audio – perfect for IRL streaming, recording presentations or classes, and more. Anytime creators require the freedom of wireless audio.

Røde Connect allows two Wireless GO IIs to be connected to a single computer. Each transmitter can be allocated to its own channel in the software for a total of four separate wireless audio streams, each with an individual level meter, as well as solo and mute buttons. The Wireless GO II can also be used in conjunction with the NT-USB Mini within Røde Connect.

Røde Connect is available to download for free now at rode.com/rode-connect.

A New Professional Studio Microphone Arm
Another example of Røde’s determination to continuously expand its product catalog to serve the needs of its users is the recent announcement of the new Røde PSA1+, a new premium professional studio arm for podcasters, streamers and broadcasters.

Combining sleek looks (Røde knows that microphone arms are increasingly showing on camera) with completely silent operation and improved stability, the PSA1+ improves on the original Røde PSA1 professional studio arm, now using a new parallelogram spring design for precise placement, and ultra-smooth movement with almost any microphone – from 94g all the way to 1.2kgs. The new PSA1+ is compatible with all standard microphones and shockmounts.

The completely silent operation is made possible by the use of fully damped internal springs, high-quality neoprene covers, and rubber contact mounts for superior isolation from knocks, bumps and keyboard clicks. The microphone arm also offers extended reach and 360-degree rotation, while an integrated cable management system allows users to manage and easily conceal both XLR and USB cables.
