Sony has tried multiple speaker form factors to create a convincing spatial audio experience in any room. In alternative to existing immersive home theater multichannel systems, the new HT-AX7 combines a compact soundbar-type main system and two satellite speakers. The key to create an impactful surround-sound experience lies with Sony's 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, which creates multiple phantom speakers at the front, rear, and overhead, enveloping the user in a bubble-like soundsphere.
Expanding on the spatial algorithms developed for home theater soundbars and the original SRS wireless speakers with 360 Reality Audio and Immersive Audio Enhancement technologies, the new HT-AX7 delivers a surround sound sensation by simply placing three speakers around the room. Typically, the two satellite speakers can be placed in the corners of a room and the HT-AX7 will create the perfect atmosphere with a high-quality, room-filling sound.
For general use, the HT-AX7 does not require any special installation. With the three speakers placed around a room, users can always experience a more immersive sound that enhances everyday activities. With complete wireless connectivity and automatic pairing between the rear speakers and main unit there is no need to worry about complicated layouts or additional pairing. And setting up the HT-AX7 uses the Sony Home Entertainment Connect app that guides users through the volume, sound field, and more control options.
The HT-AX7 also features Sony's upmixer algorithm which can transform stereo into three-dimensional surround sound. The user can activate this sound-field effect to experience a surround sound-like effect with any type of 2-channel content. The upmixer analyzes sound in real-time and separates individual sound objects, redistributing them to create a more immersive listening experience.
Seamless Design
With up to 30 hours of battery life and a quick charging feature that gives up to 2.5 hours of play with a 10-minute charge, the HT-AX7 provides complete freedom. The two removable sattelite speakers dock directly on top of the main unit and are charged while attached. The HT-AX7's portable design mainly relies on Bluetooth sources, creating a fully wireless, lightweight solution with the detachable rear speakers. Combined with the one-handed portability of the main unit, the HT-AX7 is wrapped in fabric, and blends seamlessly with the interior decor throughout the home.Sony's home audio products are also designed with the environment in mind. Sony is committed to using less plastic in its products and packaging and uses a fabric material made from 100% recycled PET bottles and incorporates recycled plastics in the HT-AX7 packaging. The individual packaging features Sony's proprietary Original Blended Material, which is derived from bamboo, sugarcane, and recycled paper collected from the market has allowed the elimination of plastic use in packaging.
The HT-AX7 is priced at $499.99 MSRP.
