Sony Electronics Unveils New Brand INZONE for Gaming Monitors and Headsets

June 29 2022, 00:25
Sony Electronics has announced a new brand for gaming products, just in case gamers don't find Sony to be cool enough. INZONE is the name for a new range of gaming monitors and headsets, with a clean-looking design, and an advanced set of technology features. The three headsets in the INZONE range support dedicated 2.4GHz plus Bluetooth wireless connectivity, 360 Spatial Sound, and are designed to work with gaming PCs and Sony PlayStation 5 consoles. The top of the range INZONE H9 headset even offers ANC allowing gamers not to hear the cooling fans in their PCs.

Sony Electronics says that its new INZONE gaming gear brand for PC gamers will "sharpen their senses and enhances gaming ability." While the cool looking INZONE monitors feature high-resolution (4K and HD) and high-dynamic range picture (140 and 240Hz), the new INZONE headsets are promoted for its superior sound and 360 Spatial Sound abilities for gaming. This is possible when connected to a PC with an old USB-A port and Windows 10 (64 bit) or later, running the INZONE Hub PC software.

The new INZONE brand, Sony explains, embraces its expertise as a pioneer in audio-visual technology, delivering features that will immerse gamers into the action with total focus. "The market has been expanding with a higher interest in gaming with the spread of esports tournaments and the advancement of gaming entertainment. With Sony's strong history of high-end audio and visual technology products, we believe this new line will offer even more options for those looking to upgrade their current gaming systems. We are committed to contributing to the growth of gaming culture by providing PC and PlayStation gamers with a wider range of options to enrich lives through gaming," says Yukihiro Kitajima, Head of Game Business and Marketing Office, Sony Corporation.

While the new INZONE M9 4K/HDR gaming monitor is a beautiful design that offers a welcome alternative to typical ugly-looking "gaming" monitors, the announcement is relevant for audioXpress readers since it also includes a new range of gaming headsets, including a premium ANC model of interest.

The new INZONE line will feature two new wireless headsets, the INZONE H9 with up to 32 hours of battery life, and the INZONE H7 with up to 40 hours of battery life, along with a wired headset, the INZONE H3. All three models are equipped with a flexible flip-up boom microphone with mute function, allowing users to communicate effortlessly in-game with squad members.

Sony's 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming is activated by the INZONE Hub PC software and allows users to enjoy spatial sound out of multichannel audio signals as the game creators intended. This is something that might improve spatial awareness, enabling the player to precisely hear footsteps and movements. Additionally, with the smartphone app "360 Spatial Sound Personalizer," headset users can get the spatial sound optimized to their ear shape for truly personalized gameplay, as with other 360 Spatial Sound products from Sony.

Developed based on Sony's expertise in headphone technology, the diaphragms of the INZONE H9 and INZONE H7 both have a unique shape that allow the headphones to reproduce extremely high frequency sounds with high compliance, as well as authentic low frequencies for an immersive gaming experience. Ducts on the housing of the INZONE H9, INZONE H7 and INZONE H3 control and optimize low-frequency sound reproduction for a more powerful bass that makes deep sounds seem real. The wide, soft headband cushion spreads the weight evenly across the player's head for long-term wearing comfort. The earpads are shaped to minimize pressure on the player's ears by optimizing contact with the side of their head.
For gamers that need to play games close to boosted noisy PC boxes, the INZONE H9 headset has multiple noise-canceling microphones that keep out the disturbing noise. To further the gaming experience, Sony has incorporated the same Dual Noise Sensor Technology used in their 1000X series headphones, enabling users to stay aware of important ambient sounds such as a phone call, the doorbell ringing or a partner speaking while playing games with Ambient Sound Mode.

The headset's packaging material of Sony's products is plastic-free (excluding coating and adhesive materials) and uses only recycled materials and non-woven cellulose, reflecting Sony's commitment to keeping the environmental in mind with its products.

The new INZONE H9 Wireless Noise-Canceling Gaming Headset ($299.99 MSRP) offers up to 32 hours of battery life (depending on having Bluetooth and ANC on or off) and a 10-minute quick charge offers up to an hour game time. The INZONE H7 model ($99.99 MSRP) doesn't have ANC but allows for up to 40 hours of battery life.
