Earlier in 2021, Paul Hales, president and product designer for Pro Audio Technology decided it was time to plan for the worldwide shortage of digital and other electronic components, which was already impacting the industry's ability to deliver complete systems. In preparation for the then-planned CEDIA 2021 trade show, Pro Audio Technology (PRO) originally announced the MA-4242, MA-9999, and MA-9900 modular amplifiers, and now the new range is ready and available also with the MA-4400 and MA-9942 models, all of which can be combined with PRO’s loudspeaker controller/processors.
"Knowing we had many loyal customers with projects in the pipeline, we got to work designing a new amplifier platform that could be manufactured consistently while we wait for the supply chain to normalize. The MA series amplifiers are the result of that initiative and will allow our integrators to complete all of their open and upcoming audio system installations despite global supply chain uncertainty," states Paul Hales.
PRO’s modular amplifiers pack between two to four channels of up to 1000W each into a fan-less 2U chassis, and are built on proven Class-D technology from ICEPower. A balanced design, all connections are made via transformer isolated (optional) XLR inputs, minimizing ground-loop hum and buzz problems. In addition, each amp employs world class A-D and D-A converters with a native dynamic range of 123dB. When combined with PRO’s ALC-3316, PLP-8250, or PLP-8800 loudspeaker controller/processors, installers can use the MA amplifiers to quickly and easily power, apply high resolution DSP filtering, and calibrate any PRO sound system.
"By leveraging our line of loudspeaker controllers, our dealers can now use the MA amplifiers to power larger PRO loudspeakers and subwoofers and do the signal processing for them inside the ALC or PLP units. When using the ALC-3316, it acts not only as an amplified controller for the smaller speakers in the system, but also as a multichannel digital signal processor for the MA amps – a testament to the flexibility and utility of our ALC models,” adds Hales.
The MA modular amplifiers are available to order now and include the MA-4400 (2 x 450W); MA-9900 (2 x 1000W); MA-4242 (2 x 450W + 2 x 200W); MA-9942 (2 x 1000W + 450W + 200W); and the MA-9999 (4 x 1000W) all featuring 12VDC or contact closure controls.
