Origin Acoustics Acquires Luxury Loudspeaker Brand Ambisonic Systems

August 31 2021, 01:10
Origin Acoustics, the manufacturer of architectural audio and the worldwide distributor of Ambisonic Systems, announced the acquisition of the Lake Havasu City, Arizona, manufacturer of performance luxury Pro and Residential loudspeaker systems. Origin Acoustics also confirmed an agreement with LK Distributing, Inc. to co-distribute Amina Sound, the British manufacturer of invisible loudspeakers in the US.

Ambisonic was founded in 2009 by industry pioneer Jeffery (Jeff) Coombs and the company specializes in high-output, audiophile-quality sound reinforcement loudspeakers using ribbon planar drivers. With over 64 years of experience in designing professional and high-end loudspeakers — specializing in ribbon-line arrays — the company’s engineering team is known for its innovative concepts, breakthrough products and great sounding speakers.

"Ambisonic Systems has spent years producing Pro Audio gear for the world's most exquisite venues and theaters. They've taken the best of the lessons learned in that industry, their heritage of designing world-class systems, and distilled it into their first residential speaker, the Landscape Ribbon Six," states Origin Acoustics. The unique LS6 landscape loudspeaker (pictured) touts a proprietary weatherized high-dispersion ribbon tweeter, 2.7” magnetic planar tweeter, exotic materials and more. The high-frequency ribbon driver is voiced with a woven glass-fiber woofer to produce clear audio reproduction at any volume.

The full range of Ambisonic Systems high-performance loudspeakers includes a vast line of outdoor audio solutions for any situation or location, including custom Outdoor Soundbars, Weatherized Line-Arrays, Triple-Bandpass Burial Subwoofers, and more. The Ambisonic Systems factory will remain in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

"The opportunity to work with Jeff Coombs and his team as their global distributor was an eye-opener for how truly unique their products are. It opened the door for us to add Ambisonic Systems to our portfolio. Our leadership, sales teams and dealers are elated,” says Nick Berry, CEO of Origin Acoustics.

Amina Distribution
Origin Acoustics also confirmed an agreement with LK Distributing, Inc. to co-distribute Amina Sound, the British manufacturer of invisible loudspeakers in the US. Origin Acoustics will work in tandem with the existing North American distributor LK Distributing, to grow and support the brand. LK Distributing will continue as the primary US warehouse for Amina Sound.

Amina Sound, founded in 1999 and based in Huntingdon, England, is known for creating the world’s first plaster over invisible loudspeaker in 2001. With an increasing need for clean, clutter free integrated lifestyle-technology in both commercial and residential applications, the requirement for discreet, invisible audio solutions is in demand.

Amina’s technology interacts with the room, with extremely linear 180x180 degree all around dispersion characteristics. With the invention of VPT (Vibrational Panel Technology), Amina has been able to take the common loudspeaker design and replace the cone with a flat panel, using small vibrations to generate sound which can be heard but not seen. This allows for seamless integration of a loudspeaker into any wall, ceiling, or flat decorative panel with zero visual impact.

Amina offers two core-technologies to allow integration of invisible loudspeakers into any room, Edge and Mobius. Both products can be installed in either new or retrofit applications.

"We’re very excited to enter into this co-distribution agreement with the Origin Acoustics team. This strategic partnership will help increase Amina Sound’s presence in the United States and ultimately grow its business. I firmly believe this is the right move for the brand."
