Lindell Audio Introduces Exact Emulation of Neve’s 80 Series Analog Console

November 25 2019, 00:10
Plugin Alliance announced availability of the Lindell 80 Series, a new plug-in from Swedish company Lindell Audio. This is an exact emulation of the original Neve 1073 and 1084 (mic preamp/EQ) and 2254 (mono limiter/compressor) channel modules, plus the 1272 (line amplifier) buss module, from the Neve 8028, one of the last 80 Series hand-wired mixing consoles created by Neve Electronics. The plug-in was created using Brainworx Audio’s proprietary TMT (Tolerance Modeling Technology) and THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) technology for added authenticity.

Lindell Audio was founded in 2010 by Bohus Sound Studios resident producer Tobias Lindell. Following the launch of its own range of high-quality hardware recording equipment, the company now launched the Lindell Plugins product line. The company's latest product is an emulation of one of the most beloved analog consoles.

Lindell Plugins created an exact emulation of the original 1073/1084/2254 channel modules and the 1272 line amplifier buss module, making them available to be used with any digital audio workstation. One of the classic hand-wired mixing consoles made by Neve Electronics, the 8028 is a truly magical desk on which countless seminal records have been cut in the last 30 years, from Queen, to David Bowie, Nirvana to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Dating back to 1969 when first brought to the market, the 80 Series analog mixing desks attained somewhat of a cult-like status due to their uniqueness and rarity. Known for their breathtaking depth, pristine high end, and rich definition, the individual modules that comprise these desks have stood the test of time. It is no wonder that institutions like Sound City Studios, Oscilloscope Labs, Electric Lady Studios, and Sphere Studios have relied on the sound and features offered by this desk.

The new Lindell 80 Series plug-in brings the sound of this desk into the digital domain, allowing users to track, mix, and master, and achieve the thick tone only made possible by the individual components found in the original channel strip. To complete the console emulation, Lindell Audio has licensed the patent-pending Tolerance Modeling Technology (TMT) from Brainworx, which emulates not only the signal chain, but all the electronic component variables, in order to provide an authentic analog experience in the digital realm.

Users of the plug-in can mix their work with 32 different channels in order to replicate the various component tolerances found in the original hardware. As part of the Plugin Alliance family, Lindell are also offering a workflow and feature set with this new TMT console that will feel very familiar to all users of the current bx_console plug-in line. And Lindell 80 Series users also have access to the Lindell 80 Buss, a separate plugin providing an exacting emulation of the 1272 drop-in module used as a buss amplifier originally built for Neve Electronics’ ‘80 Series’ analog mixing consoles.

Lindell Audio’s Lindell 80 Series is available for purchase as an AAX Native-, AU-, VST2-, and VST3-supporting plugin for MacOS 10.9 through 10.14 and Windows 7 through 10. The introductory price is $199.99 USD, changing to an MSRP of $249.00 USD. There is a fully-functional, 14-day trial available. The Lindell 80 Series plug-in is also included in Plugin Alliance’s MEGA Bundle subscription packages.
