Home Audio Industry Reconvenes at 2022 High End Show in Munich

May 5 2022, 00:55
The prestigious High End Munich show finally returns to the MOC exhibition center - and pretty much the whole city of Munich, as the consumer, hifi, and high-end audio companies return to in-person events. Promoted by the local High End Society and reputed as the best trade-show in the world for consumer high-quality audio products, the 2022 High End Show (May 19-22) is now expanded with the new International Parts & Supply (IPS) B2B segment and more valuable initiatives.

Even if fundamentally what most visitors to the High End Show most wish is to see is a return to the familiar formula that made this trade show so successful, the 2022 Munich event will feel somewhat different, hopefully for the better.

The High End Society says it has been providing ideas and impetus for the exhibiting companies, promoting four days of rewarding experiences for all the audio experts and professionals that will gather in Munich. The show is completely sold out to hundreds of exhibitors (and many more brands) from more than 40 different countries as they showcase their latest innovations in the halls and atriums of the MOC Event Center

In fact, the Munich event continues to expand to many other hotels and event facilities in town, considering that the number of pure B2B events as long outdone the capacity available at the MOC. This poses a significant challenge for anyone trying to cover new product introductions. The good news is that the number of locations in the vicinity (walking distance) are now exponentially larger, since the Motorworld München (pictured above) has now opened its doors just in front of the MOC (https://motorworld.de/en/muenchen/). After twelve years of project development and construction, Motorworld München now offers event spaces, shops, 22 conference rooms, the four-star AMERON München Motorworld hotel, a broad variety of restaurants, and much more. It's just across the street from the MOC, and it's probably going to be a lively extension to the High End show during four days.

Anyway... starting May 19, the 2022 High End show will open its doors in the exhibition grounds of the MOC Event Center, and this year's High End ambassador continues to be Alan Parsons (he was supposed to be the 2020 ambassador but that didn't happen...). He will be personally walking the show on the first day, and will remain for an autograph session for visitors on Saturday, May 21.

Alan Parsons will be the face of the High End throughout 2022
For the first time, this year’s event will feature two trade visitor days on which the entire trade show will focus on B2B business (before it was just the first day). Only during the weekend the High End 2022 will also be open to the general public, offering audio enthusiasts and music lovers the opportunity to experience the impressive listening experiences and the exciting technical demonstrations.

The impressive number of exhibitors - on the same scale as the last High End back in 2019 - underlines just how much the exhibitors have been looking forward to the relaunch of live industry events. This year, the companies participating in the High End 2022 are more determined than ever to use the opportunity offered by this showcase event – with two days for business, meetings and product launches can take place with less time pressure.

Hi-fi fans and music lovers will, of course, also have the opportunity to further explore their passion on the two days on which the event is open to the general public. There's a series of talks and presentations for those in need of more knowledge, while the demonstration rooms in the atriums and the sound cabins in the halls offer listeners the best sound experiences and impressive product presentations. The portfolio of brands represented at the trade show not only includes globally known industry heavyweights but also features small independent companies and startups.

This year’s event will also feature a Headphone Area in which visitors can examine and test products in a direct comparison. In a color-coded special exhibition space, renewed companies and new brands alike will be presenting headphones for all requirements and budgets.

The new supplier trade show, IPS - International Parts & Supply, will take place in a separate area of the MOC Event Center, where manufacturers can look for audio parts and component suppliers. This space will be promoted as a B2B platform for establishing direct contact with the industry in a tailored environment. In that area, visitors will be able to find the Audio & Loudspeaker Technologies International (ALTI) Association, which for the first time will have a booth space at this event.

After a forced hiatus of two-years, the High End will also be a unique opportunity for new companies and startups entering the audio space. The High End Society created once again a stage for newcomers, with a group showcase for early-stage companies and products. Among the applications submitted for High End 2022, the organizer selected eight promising newcomers, who will present acoustic mirrors, loudspeakers and turntables with a cutting-edge design, among many other new products.

For those seeking an entry level into high-end entertainment electronics and audio products, the Soundsclever label will guide visitors to find the latest propositions. An initiative of the High End Society, the Soundsclever label improves recognition for audio systems offering extraordinary sound performance for less than 5000 Euros. Various producers and distribution companies have put together different systems that they will present at the High End under the Soundsclever label. The solutions range from strictly digital to superior analog systems and thus represent the exciting diversity that the industry has to offer.

As always, the High End show is extremely well-organized and convenient, with guides for all types of visitors available online. There are convenient shuttles to a network of nearby hotels and even a shuttle to the airport. The 2022 adds some extra health safety as a precaution because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The High End Society has planned a limited capacity and an appropriate hygiene concept, with larger minimum sizes for exhibition stands, wider aisles and clearly marked routes through the halls to meet these requirements. What’s more, all participants are required to register online in advance.
