GN Introduces Jabra Enhance Plus True Wireless Earbuds for Discreet Hearing Enhancement

August 19 2021, 00:35
Building on years of research and engineering in sound and hearing, GN extended its Jabra Enhance line of discreet hearing enhancement solutions with a new design that draws directly from the experience of standard true wireless earbuds. The new Jabra Enhance Plus combine hearing enhancement, music streaming and calls in state-of-the-art miniaturized earbuds with a signature design, to help millions of users meet the challenges of daily life.

GN believes it should match the convenience of true wireless earbuds with advanced hearing technology to alleviate unaddressed user needs and enable millions of people to take the first step on their hearing health journey. Leveraging the experience of its Jabra consumer division with GN Hearing's expertise and advanced hearing-aid technology, the new Jabra Enhance Plus earbuds combine a discreet, comfortable design with practical hearing enhancement engineered to help people with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.

The Jabra Enhance Plus offer a unique high-tech, all-in-one hearable solution for the many people who experience hearing loss but who are not yet ready for traditional all-day wear hearing aids. The earbuds are simply a lifestyle solution to help individuals hear conversations in select situations, such as social gatherings, meetings or while enjoying media.

With its miniaturized true wireless form factor, 50% smaller than the Jabra Elite 75t TWS earbuds, which are already one of the smallest true wireless earbuds on the market, the new Jabra Enhance Plus also supports the calls, music quality and experience users currently expect from premium consumer electronics products.

The miniaturized, discreet and comfortable design (available in two colors: dark grey and gold beige) creates a desirable look in and out of the ear, and users can personalize the features on their smartphones through the Jabra Enhance app. The app guides users to complete the easy one-time set-up experience in minutes, and then allows them to access convenient and simple controls to adjust volume and listening mode for all environments.

"By combining the expertise from both sides of our medical and consumer grade audio businesses, Jabra Enhance Plus will offer a sound solution to those of us who experience hearing challenges in everyday life," says René Svendsen-Tune, CEO at GN Audio (Jabra). "This is a game changer in giving people control of their hearing as well as delivering a great true wireless audio experience."

Jabra Enhance Plus will be available first in the US and sold through licensed Hearing Care Professionals. Users will benefit from a medical hearing test and assessment, ensuring that Jabra Enhance Plus is appropriate for their hearing needs. For a perfect fit and comfort, the earbuds ship with three different sized EarGels.

"This makes Jabra Enhance Plus a great first step in people's hearing health journey and can be used to augment hearing in a variety of environments like restaurants, work meetings and family gatherings. Users will also benefit from traditional earbud functionality such as enjoying media, working from home and commuting. With Jabra Enhance Plus, we want to expand hearing health to even more people who need it," adds Gitte Aabo, CEO of GN Hearing.

"Treating hearing loss has a positive impact on well-being and quality of life, which contributes to a person's overall health. This innovation will help many more people begin their hearing health journey by providing a unique product that can give them control of their hearing health, act as true wireless earbuds and still ensure access to professional care and counseling."

Detailed specifications for the Jabra Enhance Plus show that the hearing enhancement features can be adjusted through adaptive sound processing, exploring the four different built-in microphones. The Warp Compressor feature analyzes sounds similar to the human ear for more natural sound quality, while Digital Noise Reduction provides listening comfort and keeps speech clear in various noise environments. Digital Feedback Suppression keeps feedback from interfering with quality amplification of sound, and a Binaural Beamformer (with directionality) isolates sound coming in front of the user, allowing improved focus.

The The Jabra Enhance Plus earbuds will work 10 hours on a single charge, with 30 hours included with the charging case, and the earbuds are IP52-rated for water and dust resistance. Availability starts in the US at the end of 2021, with launches in other countries following thereafter. It will be available in select hearing care clinics and pricing will be communicated at a later stage. Jabra says it aims to provide users with a medically regulated device, which we will work on getting approved under the appropriate regulation.
