Norwegian company Arendal Sound launched its latest creation, targeting both stereo and home cinema applications. The new Arendal Sound 1528 speaker series redefines high-performance loudspeaker design at fair prices, merging sonic precision, striking power, and elegant aesthetics. A custom carbon-graphene mid-range driver joins an exclusive lithium magnesium tweeter in the biggest ever speakers from Arendal Sound.
From a family retail business in consumer electronics, Arendal Sound was born as a manufacturer committed to quality and innovation in high-fidelity audio systems. The Arendal Sound 1528 speakers are a testament to the company's relentless pursuit of these goals. Building on the success of previous 1723 models (EISA Award winner in 2019-2020), the 1528 series incorporates advanced materials, state-of-the-art engineering, and meticulous craftsmanship.
At the heart of the Arendal Sound 1528 is an all-new driver configuration that sets a new benchmark for clarity and accuracy. Featuring a proprietary 28mm Lithium-Magnesium tweeter, 5" Carbon-Graphene midrange, and 8" aluminum bass drivers, the 1528 speakers deliver an expansive soundstage with pinpoint imaging and remarkable detail.
The high-frequency driver, designed and manufactured in-house, is coupled to a unique waveguide technology that minimizes distortion and provides a wider dispersion. The custom carbon-graphene mid-range driver extends the response of the lithium magnesium tweeter perfectly. The mid-woofers are crafted from a specially formulated fiber material that balances stiffness and lightness, enabling them to produce a deep, controlled bass response without sacrificing the midrange clarity. The combination results in a speaker design that can effortlessly handle complex musical passages and dynamic movie soundtracks with equal finesse.
The cabinets in the Arendal Sound 1528 series are constructed from High Density Fiberboard (HDF), chosen for its superior acoustic properties and resistance to resonances that can color the sound. The exterior is finished in a luxurious satin paint, available in both matte black and matte white. Internally, the cabinets are carefully braced to eliminate unwanted vibrations, allowing the drivers to perform at their best. The bass reflex system, featuring a flared port design, ensures optimal airflow and reduces port noise.
Central to the 1528’s performance is its meticulously designed crossover network, which seamlessly integrates the drivers and ensures a coherent and balanced sound. Using only the finest components, including precision capacitors and inductors, the crossover design also incorporates advanced thermal management, protecting the components from overheating and maintaining consistent performance even during extended high-volume playback.
Arendal Sound understands that every listening space is unique, which is why the 1528 speakers come with adjustable settings to tailor the sound to a specific environment. The rear panel features high-quality binding posts for bi-amping or bi-wiring, as well as a switchable boundary compensation control that allows the speaker to adapt to placement near walls or corners, preventing bass buildup and ensuring a balanced sound in any room.
The Arendal Sound 1528 speaker series includes options for all room sizes and configurations, from floorstanding towers, to more compact monitor and bookshelf models, including slim speakers for home theater, and multiple center speakers. Additionally, the 1528 speakers are designed to integrate seamlessly into both two-channel and multichannel setups as part of an immersive home theater. The Arendal 1528 series is available from October 2024.
