Responding to industry demands to include the very finest room correction technology in its next generation of audio products, StormAudio, a leading manufacturer of high-end Immersive Audio home theater equipment, has entered into an agreement with Dirac Research to incorporate the Dirac Live room correction solution into its new StormOptimizer suite, equipping StormAudio’s integrators with a powerful tool to effectively and efficiently correct the acoustic behaviors of the room and speakers as a complete system.
StormAudio is a brand of Auro Technologies’ Home Entertainment and Luxury Audio Product Division. The StormAudio line is designed and manufactured in France, under the guidance of StormAudio Senior Vice President Yves Trélohan, who also heads the Home Entertainment and Luxury Audio Product Division.
“At StormAudio, it’s our mission to provide our integrators and end-users with exceptional sound and service, and our agreement with Dirac enables us to achieve both,” says Yves Trélohan. “Dirac Live has been well recognized as the best room correction solution on the market. Advanced yet simple to use, Dirac Live will be a powerful tool for our integrators – they will deliver a premium listening experience to their customers while spending less time on site.”
Dirac Live is a patented room correction technology that not only corrects the frequency response, but also the impulse response of the loudspeakers in a room. As the most advanced room correction technology available on the market, Dirac Live is unique in that it provides true impulse response correction over a large listening area, improving the depth, the positioning and distinction of individual voices and instruments. Using multiple measurement and mixed phase correction, Dirac Live helps audio systems to create a natural, realistic and transparent sound with tighter bass and reduced room modes, in a way previously not possible. Dirac Live will be a standard feature for all newly purchased StormAudio processors and made available as a free DSP runtime firmware upgrade to the products already installed.
"StormAudio designs, manufactures and markets some of the world’s finest home theater audio components for an audience that expects nothing short of uncompromized audio quality,” says Niklas Thorin, Dirac’s GM of High Performance. “Their decision to adopt Dirac Live represents one more validation of our superior sound optimization technology by a leading manufacturer who demands the very best for their customers. We saw a great match and are pleased that StormAudio has selected Dirac Live to improve the listening experience even further.”
In addition to StormAudio, Dirac’s audio optimization solutions are currently utilized by other high-end home theater audio manufacturers – in addition to blue chip technology companies in the automobile and mobile markets such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Volvo, BMW, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and many more.
The StormAudio hardware line consists of 4 preamp/processors (from 16- to 32-channels), 3 power amplifiers (8- to 16-channels) and a 16-channel Integrated Immersive Sound AV Processor (combination amp/processor). All the processors have built-in compatibility with Auro-3D, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. The brand’s marquee 32-channel ISP 3D.32 ELITE | Reference Edition preamp/processor earned a Residential Systems Magazine 2016 CEDIA Best of Show Award, a CES 2017 Innovations Award and an ISE 2017 Best of Show award. The I.ISP 3D.16.12 Immersive Sound AV Receiver was hailed a Best of CES AVR by AVSForum.com and earned a Residential Systems Magazine Best of Show award at ISE 2017.
The Dirac Live room correction solution, integrated into StormAudio’s product line, will be demonstrated at the High End Show, May 18-21 in Munich and available shortly thereafter.
