Following a delayed 2021 edition scheduled for the end of September, Cine Gear Expo returns to its traditional month, in June. This is the premier annual event for professionals engaged in the film and entertainment technology industry, which obviously includes image, lighting and sound. During many years, Cine Gear Expo took place at the Universal lot or Paramount Studios, which was a bit too warm for an open air event, but still allowed the show to provide a unique environment and great networking opportunities. The 2021 edition allowed the promoters to schedule the event at the Los Angeles Convention Center - a great location - where it remains for now.
Cine Gear Expo Los Angeles 2021 is where the who’s who of motion pictures and entertainment will meet. With its origins directly in LA and California, Cine Gear Expo became the main technical event for the film and media creation and production communities, including all the top technology vendors and many highly specialized manufacturers.
The downtown LA location is a breath of fresh air with soaring ceilings, bright airy spaces inside, and outdoors exhibits too, with lots of on-site parking in addition to ample public transportation. Next door is the LA Live! entertainment complex with theaters, the Crypto.com Arena, the world-famous Grammy Museum, top restaurants, and hotels.
Thursday, June 9 marks the official opening of the Los Angeles 2022 show. The event starts at noon with the Film Series Competition which will extend throughout the day with screenings in the Student Short, Indy Short, Commercial and Music Video categories.
Also, on Thursday, the exhibition halls will open from 2pm to 7pm. This year visitors can meet with hundreds of exhibitors from technology companies worldwide. From ARRI to Zeiss, this is the best opportunity to check out the latest production equipment and services including, cameras, optics, audio recorders, microphones, booms, lighting, grip, support, motion control, stabilizers, virtual stage LEDs, robotics, streaming, monitors, filters, camera cars, cases and other tools of the trade.
Exhibit doors open again Friday June 10, from 11am to 7pm and Saturday from 10am to 5pm with the addition of a full slate of industry presentations from participants like the ASC, ICG Magazine/ICG Local 600, ARRI, Blackmagic, MBS, Sony, Zeiss, and more including the popular Got Agent? panel.
Friday evening, Cine Gear holds its annual VIP party and ceremony co-sponsored by Chapman/Leonard Studio Equipment and Sony Electronics, where the Film Series Competition winners are awarded. And, in the Cine Gear tradition, several industry favorites will be honored for their contributions to the art and technology of filmmaking. Look for surprise guests on hand to pick up special honors.
