Bang & Olufsen Introduces Beoplay EX True Wireless ANC Earphones

April 19 2022, 00:35
Bang & Olufsen announced the launch of Beoplay EX, the latest addition to its true wireless personal audio portfolio. Selling points include superior sound reproduction, and adaptive ANC in a fully waterproof design, making the Beoplay EX "the most versatile true wireless earphone model from Bang & Olufsen to date." The Danish company also says that the new model was intended to simplify personal sound, by offering an ideal combination of performance and style that would make the Beoplay EX earbuds appealing in the current competitive landscape.

"Beoplay EX embodies the seamless blend of comfort, luxury and quality sound that threads the entirety of our legendary audio portfolio together. From our award-winning Beoplay H95 over-ear ANC headphones to Beoplay Portal, our premiere entry to the gaming market, Beoplay EX is the natural next step in our superior sound offering”, says Bang & Olufsen Dorte Vestergaard, Bang & Olufsen’s Category Director.

The new design differs most notably from previous Bang & Olufsen true wireless earbuds. Acknowledging the market reference design from Apple, the Beoplay EX were designed by Thomas Bentzen with the familiar stem-based shape and earbuds contour, and transformed into a finished offering that is equal parts stylish and comfortable. When placed inside the ear, the earbuds are smaller than ever before, and ensure a comfortable and stable fit that can be worn for hours without readjustment, Bang & Olufsen recognizes.

The practicality of this new shape is matched with the signature Bang & Olufsen aesthetic — from the mirror-like glass interface which catches the light at the perfect moment, to the surrounding brushed aluminum ring. The Beoplay EX earbuds will no doubt create a statement for the wearer, whether they opt for the Black Anthracite, Gold Tone or Anthracite Oxygen finishes. And there's a matching brushed aluminum charging case, which is conveniently pocket-sized, making it the perfect travel companion.

"Whether Beoplay EX is used in the office, on the move, in the gym or at home, it has been designed by Bang & Olufsen with the aim to provide the best sound for any setting. Tuned by the brand’s acoustic engineers with decades of experience, Beoplay EX brings the superior sound that listeners expect from Bang & Olufsen’s legacy of portable and home audio products to the comparatively-miniature package of an in-ear device," the company states.

The Beoplay EX earbuds fully embrace Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation technology, allowing the wearer to appreciate the depth, detail and clarity of any sound source, for a truly immersive audio experience. Bang & Olufsen’s design accommodates a 9.2mm speaker driver, the biggest ever used for a true-wireless device by the brand. This results in a significant upgrade in sound reproduction, without compromising on comfort.

The Bluetooth 5.2 design supports AAC, SBC, and aptX Adaptive and adds its ANC implementation that helps support background noise reduction for office use and an upgrade in call quality. This allows the Beoplay EX to be used for taking meetings or personal calls at any moment, fully exploring the three MEMS microphones in each earbud, beamforming technology and own voice functionality.

The Beoplay EX earbuds also support multipoint connectivity, allowing connecting to two devices at the same time, allowing wearers to listen to music from one and take a calls from another. This allows Bang & Olufsen to claim superior connectivity with its new model, but also encourage extended use, thanks to the sweat and IP57-certified dust resistant and waterproof ratings, making it an extremely durable personal sound solution.

Battery wise, given all the features and technology that was built-in into the Beoplay EX earbuds, its still good to see up to 6 hours of playtime with ANC turned on, and 20 hours of charging in the case. The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX earbuds are available staring May 5, 2022, for 399 USD EUR in Anthracite Oxygen with the other finishes expected to be available until June 2022.
