Audio Industry Returns to New York for 147th International Audio Engineering Society Convention

July 5 2019, 00:35
Now solidly established as an annual tradition for the whole audio industry, and particularly for the professional audio sector, the International Audio Engineering Society Convention returns to New York City, October 16 – 19, at the Javits Center. Registration is now open, and the Committee and Program topics have been announced. As in previous years, the AES New York 2019 will be co-located with the independent NAB Show New York, open October 16-17 in an adjacent exhibition hall. AES New York registration includes access to both exhibition halls.

Online registration is now open for the Audio Engineering Society’s 147th International Convention taking place in New York City. Honoring the convention’s theme, “Inspire,” AES New York promises to once again inspire attendees with a diverse gathering of top minds in the audio engineering industry, with leading Technical Program presentations and events tailored to offer attendees the ultimate professional audio education and networking experience.

As in previous years, both the exhibition (open only 3 days, from 16 – 18) and the conference program (expanding to October 19) will have a strong focus on professional audio topics, including Studio Recording, Music Production, Live Sound, Broadcast and Streaming, Networked Audio, Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality, Game Audio, Sound for Picture and Product Development, among other interests.

For attendees, All Access registration provides the only way to experience the entire Convention, including a comprehensive papers, workshops, tutorials program and all of the Exhibits-Plus benefits. Exhibits-Plus access allows entry to the exhibition floor, exhibit floor theaters, pavilions and demo rooms, where leading manufacturers reveal and demonstrate the latest in audio hardware and software tools.

Last year, both the exhibition and conference program expanded significantly. The exhibition featured over 300 brands, including over 35 new exhibitors, always packed with attendees of all backgrounds and skill levels, and many free-to-attend events attracting a young but very motivated crowed also happening in the show-floor and in demo rooms. The conference program proved once again to be not only the education and peer networking event of the year for audio engineers, producers, students and professionals from all audio industry specialties, but also an invaluable resource for exhibitors and sponsors to reach those end users and industry influencers. The 2018 report of the convention is available here.

This year’s AES New York Convention is being organized by Convention Co-Chairs Agnieszka Roginska, Valerie Tyler and Jonathan Wyner, who have assembled an expert team of Convention Committee members to hone a program covering the most talked-about topics in the industry. The AES New York Technical Program topics and areas of study include Applications in Audio (chaired by Alex Case); Archiving and Restoration (chaired by Jessica Thompson); the Audio Builders Workshop (chaired by Owen Curtin); Audio for Cinema (chaired by John Whynot); Broadcast and Online Delivery (chaired David Bialik and assistant chair Fred Willard); Education (chaired by Magdalena Piotrowska); Game Audio & XR/Immersive & Spatial Audio (chaired by Steve Martz); Historical (chaired by Gary Gottlieb and Dan Mortensen); Networked Audio (chaired by Bob Lee); Papers (co-chaired by Areti Andreopoulou and Braxton Boren); Product Development (chaired by Scott Leslie); Recording and Production (co-chaired by Jim Kaiser, Michael Romanowski and Paul Womack); Sound Reinforcement (chaired by Henry Cohen); Student Events (chaired by Justin Chervony); and Convention Tech Tours (chaired by Jessica Livingston).
