Xperi and TiVo Complete Merger, Establishing Leading Digital Entertainment Technology and IP Licensing Platform

Xperi Holding Corporation (“Xperi”) announced that it has completed the merger of Xperi Corporation and TiVo Corporation, forming a new expanded digital entertainment technology platform and one of the industry’s largest and most diverse intellectual property (IP) licensing platforms. The combined company will operate a number of industry leading technology brands, including the TiVo brand for consumer-facing media and entertainment products.

AES Virtual Vienna Convention to Connect Students and Educators Worldwide in Four-Day Online Event

While the world is taking on day-to-day activities in new ways and working with new circumstances, the Audio Engineering Society is bringing “A World of Audio” to virtual attendees, this June 2 – 5, with the AES Virtual Vienna Convention. AES Virtual Vienna Convention activities will include student recording and design competitions, an Education and Career Fair, Student Delegate Assembly events and more for just $25 for AES Student Members.

Genelec RAW Loudspeakers to Help AES Fundraising Initiative

Following the introduction of the special RAW aluminum color finish, Genelec is set to donate a percentage of every sale of its new RAW loudspeaker range to the Audio Engineering Society (AES), for the remainder of this year. Additionally, Genelec will be funding ten one-year AES memberships for those individuals whose lives have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Keynotes and Heyser Presentation Announced for AES Virtual Vienna Convention

The Audio Engineering Society has begun to announce program details for the upcoming Virtual Vienna Convention, including three keynote lectures and the Heyser Presentation. The AES Virtual Vienna Convention will take place online June 2 – 5, and registration is now open for as little as $50 USD for AES members. On the opening day, The Heyser Presentation will be presented by Francis Rumsey on “Sound Quality in the Era of Interaction and Extended Reality.”

Registration Opens for Online AES Virtual Vienna Convention, June 2–5 2020

The Audio Engineering Society has officially cancelled the in-person components of the AES Vienna 2020 Convention scheduled for May 2020. While unfortunately there will be no exhibition as such, the AES decided to take the conference events online, offering new interactive possibilities to “Listen, Learn, Connect” under extraordinary circumstances. AES Virtual Vienna will offer a program of sessions that will be broadcast throughout the 4 days, after which they will be available on-demand, available to all registrants.

Audio Engineering Society Seeks Financial Support from Membership and Industry

The Audio Engineering Society has not proven immune to the havoc the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking across the globe. The traditional cashflow of the Society, fueled by its events, has been severely disrupted. In response, the AES has launched a fundraising campaign to ensure the Society’s continued operation through the crisis. The goal of the initiative is to raise $500,000 USD by June 1.

Agnieszka Roginska has begun her term as President of the Audio Engineering Society as of January 1, 2020. Currently celebrating her 20th year as an AES member, Roginska has served in numerous leadership roles within the Society. Professionally, she currently holds the positions of Professor of Music Technology and the Vice-Chair of the Music and Performing Arts Professions Department at New York University.

148th AES Vienna 2020 Convention Officially Cancelled - AES Virtual Vienna Convention set for June 2–5, 2020

The Audio Engineering Society (AES) Vienna 2020 convention was cancelled. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the 148th Audio Engineering Society International Audio Convention scheduled for May 25 – 28 at the Austria Center Vienna will not take place. The AES Virtual Vienna Convention in now set for June 2–5, 2020, with an online format. AES Virtual Vienna will offer a program of sessions that will be broadcast throughout the 4 days, after which they will be available on-demand, available to all registrants.

The 147th Audio Engineering Society International Pro Audio Convention rocked the Javits Center with four days of everything audio. Under the banner Inspire, the association's annual family reunion returned to New York City’s Javits Center, where inspiration was abundant as leading audio innovators shared their knowledge and experience alongside gear designed to spark creativity and imagination while enhancing productivity.
