Avid Expands VENUE S6L Live Sound Modular Mixing Platform with New Compact Systems

Avid announced the immediate availability of a new control surface, processing engine and I/O rack option for its expanded Avid VENUE S6L unified live sound platform. The Avid VENUE S6L-24C control surface, Avid VENUE E6L-112 engine and Stage 32 I/O rack are the first releases out of six new components announced in April 2018, providing sound companies and performance venues with greater flexibility to configure the perfect system to meet any production, space or budget requirement.

The unveiling of the new Starkey Livio AI platform was a major event for Starkey Hearing Technologies, with the US-based company multiple times mentioning the market disruption caused by the iPhone on the communications market, and declaring its ambition to do the same with smart hearing. The Audio Engineering Society announced that Thomas Dolby will deliver the keynote address during the Opening Ceremonies of the AES New York 2018 International Convention. Thomas Dolby’s AES keynote address “The Conscious Sound Byte” will focus on next-generation sound technologies, in particular adaptive/non-linear music and audio for games, VR/AR, “hearables” and other new media platforms.

The Audio Engineering Society recently held its first International Conference on Audio Archiving, Preservation & Restoration to a sold-out crowd of attendees at the Library of Congress National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) Packard Campus in Culpeper, Virginia, June 28-30, 2018. Iron Mountain Entertainment Services was the platinum sponsor, with the RIAA, and Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing also sponsoring the event.

After six-and-a-half years of service as the Audio Engineering Society’s Executive Director, Bob Moses has elected to leave his position, effective July 1, 2018. AES Financial Planning Officer Bill Foster was appointed as Interim Executive Director, while the AES engages in the search for a new permanent Executive Director.

2018 AES International Conference on Audio Archiving, Preservation & Restoration

The 2018 Audio Engineering Society International Conference on Audio Archiving, Preservation & Restoration will take place in Culpeper, VA, June 28-30. This conference will present an opportunity to bring researchers and practitioners together for three days to discuss critical preservation issues and focus on strategies that will support and encourage collaboration and interoperability between industry and the preservation, restoration and archiving communities.
