Soundcraft just released another model in its popular Si Series of digital mixers. After the Performers, combining audio and lighting control, and the cost-effective Expression model, there’s now the Si Impact. A truly versatile design, equal at home in the studio or stage, appealing to musicians.
With the new Soundcraft Si Impact digital mixing console, musicians, DJs, and recording enthusiasts now have an incredible combination of power and processing at their fingertips. Designed as a remarkably affordable, all-in-one console, the Si Impact can be used on the road, in the recording studio, in the rehearsal space and everywhere in between, which translates to significant savings in cost and time.
The Si Impact is the culmination of Soundcraft’s careful listening to the needs of existing and potential customers in the field. Based on market feedback, the requirements for an ideal digital console were clear: high-quality audio, flexible processing power, and ease of use in both live and studio environments.
In its more than 40 years of existence, Soundcraft has come to define the term “British Sound” for live audio mixing consoles. In recent years, the company has enjoyed tremendous success with its Si Performer and Si Expression consoles, with both lines delivering professional performance at entry-level prices. The new Si Impact takes some of the best qualities from each of these lines and incorporates them into a single, compact, highly affordable console.
“Sound quality will always be the top priority for us at Soundcraft and we know customers will be amazed at the quality they hear from such a compact and affordable board,” said Sean Karpowicz, Product Manager, Soundcraft. “Throw in multi-track recording capability, incredible digital effects and remote mixing, and the Si Impact is a musician’s best friend!”
As the company states, “Truly affordable mixing on a world-class professional level has never been such a realistic possibility before today. Delivering an incredible level of power and processing in a most affordable package, the Si Impact draws on Soundcraft’s more than 40 years of excellence in live sound mixing, combining the latest digital innovations together with its unrivaled sound quality.”
The 40-input Soundcraft Si Impact is designed to be as simple as an analog mixer, exploring all the advantages of digital control and DSP power. For live sound digital mixing the Si Impact can be complemented with ViSi iPad control and features built-in Stagebox connectivity for I/O expansion. In addition to its live sound components, the Si Impact has a 32-in/32-out USB recording and playback interface that provides easy multitrack recording and playback directly from a DAW.
The fully motorized faders come equipped with Soundcraft FaderGlow illumination technology and LCD channel displays or "‘scribble strips" for visual feedback and easy operation.
The Si Impact provides 32 mic/line inputs, 40 DSP input channels (32 mono inputs and four stereo channels/returns) and 31 output busses (all with full DSP processing and GEQ) with 20 sub-group aux busses and four mono/stereo matrix busses.
Eight XLR/quarter-inch combi-jacks are available for line inputs and instruments, while a four-band fully parametric EQ is available for each channel and bus. The Si Impact also offers studio grade effects and dynamics from Soundcraft’s sister companies BSS, Lexicon and dbx.
The Si Impact supports up to eight VCA masters and eight Mute groups, plus 26 motorized input faders and LR/Mono (fully motorized with four fully customizable fader layers). The console also features a 5" color touchscreen display for easy access to show setup, patching, FX, and security.
