ALC NetworX, developers of the RAVENNA networking technology, will be intervening on two presentations scheduled on the topic of AES67 and how it can be integrated into products and projects. AES67 is the new audio-over-IP networking standard introduced by the AES in September 2013 aimed at improving interoperability between different protocols. RAVENNA is already fully AES67-compatible.
The first presentation is part of the Broadcast Engineering Conference at NAB on Sunday, April 12th. Entitled “Rolling out AES67 into Real-World Applications” the presentation will be given by Andreas Hildebrand, Senior Product Manager at ALC NetworX, at 1:30pm, room S227. The second presentation, also on Sunday at 3pm in room N202LMR, is a demonstration and information session hosted by the Media Networking Alliance on “Possible ways to integrate AES67 into your products.” A number of presenters, including Andreas will be participating.
“The more people understand AES67 and why it is in everyone’s interest to adopt the standard as widely as possible, the better it is for all of us,” states Andreas Hildebrand. “AoIP networking is clearly the way forward and will eventually become the norm, in much the same way that digital consoles have now superseded analog boards. The new AES67 standard gives us a base to work from that will ensure interoperability between products and protocols and thus make for seamless integration in complex projects.”
“It should be noted that AES67 is an interoperability standard, not a complete solution and, in order to use the standard, you need a protocol framework. RAVENNA is currently the only AoIP protocol on the market that is natively AES67-compliant,” adds Andreas Hildebrand.
Manufacturers who have already integrated RAVENNA into their products include Archwave, Digigram, DirectOut, Lawo, Merging Technologies, Neumann and Riedel with others poised to make announcements very soon. Most will be exhibiting at the NAB show, as will ALC NetworX who can be found on the RAVENNA booth #C2218.
Current RAVENNA partner companies include AEQ, AETA, Archwave, ARG, arkona, Calrec, Cordial, Digigram, Dimetis, DirectOut, DSA Volgmann, GatesAir, Genelec, Infomedia, Jutel, Lawo, LSB, Merging, MTS, Neumann, Omicron, Orban, Qbit, Riedel, Schoeps, SCISYS, Sennheiser, Sonifex, Sound4, Telos Alliance and WorldCast systems.
