HEDD Audio Unveils High End Version of its HEDDphone for Enthusiasts

September 26 2024, 16:10
It's called HEDDphone TWO GT and is the latest design from the Berlin-based manufacturer that surprised the professional market with its bold AMT headphones launched in 2019. Originally a large, heavy design, the HEDDphone was further refined in 2023 and is now transformed into a specific model that was custom tuned for headphone enthusiasts. The new open-back, over-ear design takes the latest full-range AMT driver with its multi-layered Kapton polyimide film and adds a lightweight magnesium chassis and carbon fiber headband.

Heinz Electrodynamic Design (HEDD) is a Berlin-based audio company, founded in 2015 by Klaus Heinz and his son, Frederik Knop. A renown manufacturer of studio monitors, HEDD Audio was one of the first companies to take the bold step to design headphones for reference monitoring, leveraging its expertise in Air Motion Transformer drivers. Since its launch, HEDDphones have been trusted by artists and music producers globally and the product clearly contributed to expanding the brand's recognition in a wider market.

Now, the new HEDDphone TWO GT writes the next chapter in this truly unique approach to headphones, taking the recognized speed and clarity of the refined AMT driver of the HEDDphone TWO model to the world of modern audiophile listening. Like its professional counterpart, the new HEDDphone TWO GT uses a robust, yet ultralight multi-layered Kapton diaphragm that is over three times larger than traditional dynamic, planar or electrostatic driver designs. The new HEDD AMT features the latest Variable Velocity Transform technology, which responds from 10Hz to 40kHz with very low distortion levels, more accurate dynamics and an effortless soundstage.

"The GT is to the TWO, what a Gran Turismo is to a race car: more comfortable and certainly more forgiving. Whilst HEDDphone TWO was designed to be a cutting-edge engine to deliver fast and exceptional results for audio engineers and producers, the GT adopts the analytical clarity of the TWO, adding a warmer sonic signature and premium comfort experience. Every element of this high-performing product will enhance your ride," the company states in the announcement.

HEDD has combined substantial feedback from the passionate Head-Fi community to come up with a new air-compliance tuning system that expands the bass, alongside a warmer mid-range and sparkling top end to better deliver the emotion within the music. And the design was fitted with further high-end components and materials, complemented with a lightweight magnesium chassis and carbon fiber headband.

"The HEDDphone TWO GT is designed for pleasure, so get ready to lose yourself in your favorite album or playlist. We have engineered the clamping force on the carbon fibre headband to be more comfortable for longer periods, with softer ear pads and the unique dual strap system that can be adjusted and fixed to your preference. To give our customers a choice between different comfort experiences without taking them away from the music, the new ear pads are finished in either velour or sheep leather. The improved cable quality adds to the overall luxurious experience," they add.

The HEDDphone TWO GT ships with all of the possible cables and connections included in the box. Every cable is made using a combination of high-purity, silver-plated copper in hand-braided nylon strands. The included travel case provides a sturdy way to store and protect the HEDDphone TWO GT even on the move.

Designed specifically with the HEDDphone TWO GT in mind, HEDD Audio also engineered a GTC Upgrade Cable. At 22 AWG thickness it provides lower impedance and uses 760 strands of high purity LC-OFC cable.

The HEDDphone TWO GT by HEDD Audio will be available in USA and Korea at the end of October 2024, and in all other countries in November 2024. The HEDDphone TWO GT will be shown at CanJam SoCal September 28-29, 2024. The MSRP for the HEDDphone TWO GT is 2,199.00 USD and 599.00 USD for the GTC Premium Cable.
