Sonarworks Updates SoundID Reference Calibration Software

Sonarworks SoundID Reference was designed to make studio workflows more reliable by creating a calibrated reference for creators, including those working on headphones, in any environment. Now, Sonarworks updated the software with improvements to Translation Check reliability, adding four new headphone profiles, and improving the integration with Universal Audio's Apollo X interfaces, allowing a faster Measurement Mode start, smarter output gain handling, and fixes to the preset export and install path.

It's called HEDDphone TWO GT and is the latest design from the Berlin-based manufacturer that surprised the professional market with its bold AMT headphones launched in 2019. Originally a large, heavy design, the HEDDphone was further refined in 2023 and is now transformed into a specific model that was custom tuned for headphone enthusiasts. The new open-back, over-ear design takes the latest full-range AMT driver with its multi-layered Kapton polyimide film and adds a lightweight magnesium chassis and carbon fiber headband.

HEDD Audio, the Berlin-based manufacturer of studio monitors and headphones, announced the launch of the successor to the original HEDDphone ONE Air Motion Transformer (AMT) headphones, introduced in 2019. The new HEDDphone TWO are powered by advances in AMT technology and informed by profound user feedback. The company calls it "a turbo-charged evolution." The open-back over-ear driver, headband and strap system were completely redesigned, resulting in a 25% weight reduction of the headphones to 550g in total.

A headphone that is based on a real AMT driver, as used in professional studio monitors? The first presentation was at the 2019 High End show in Munich (May 2019), followed by another recent series of demonstrations at the CanJam London 2019 show (July 2019). Now HEDD Audio has announced that, before the end of 2019, the company intends to ship the new HEDDphone – the first full-range headphone design based on HEDD / ADAM founder and speaker veteran Klaus Heinz’ world-known Air Motion Transformer driver.
