Arkamys Meets Demand for Premium Audio in the New Jishi 01 Luxury SUV

With the Jishi 01 all-terrain luxury SUV, Jishi Auto has tapped into China’s and overseas fast-growing demand for high-end in-car experiences. The Jishi 01 was designed to provide drivers and passengers with the full luxury experience, including premium sound quality. Arkamys delivered the intended experience thanks to the seamless SoundStage advanced audio software integration without the need for bulky hardware.

Jishi Auto announced the new Jishi 01 dual-motor four-wheel-drive range-extended electric system in 2023, and the concept from Chinese startup ROX Motor is now becoming a reality. A new electric vehicle brand originally from Chinese startup ROX Motor, created by Chang Jing, the young founder and chief executive of robot vacuum maker Roborock Technology, the Jishi 01 was manufactured by Beijing Automobile Works and is priced at 349,900 yuan and 359,900 yuan, to compete with established prestige brands.

Jishi Auto wants to be more than just a car brand, inspiring an outdoor lifestyle and transform every journey into an immersive musical experience. “This continuous refinement of driving scenarios and relentless pursuit of an exceptional travel experience powerfully reflects Jishi Auto’s commitment to building the number one outdoor lifestyle brand,” as stated by the Jishi Cabin Experience Team.

For the audio design, the company partnered with Arkamys, the French audio software company and a leading supplier of sound enhancement algorithms and DSP for the automotive industry. Arkamys offers modular solutions to improve in-car sound quality, comfort and user experience, such as its SoundStage, which is key to help automakers transition to electric vehicles without relying on heavy, large and powerful hardware, which can be a challenge for energy efficiency. In the Jishi 01, Arkamys’ SoundStage system tackles these challenges by offering high-performance audio using advanced processing, rather than adding more hardware.

“The Jishi 01 is unique in its appetite for premium audio solutions that don’t sacrifice efficiency or design,” says Pierre-Yves Delpech, General Manager at Arkamys China. “Drivers want immersive sound experiences, but they also value the aesthetic and practical aspects of their vehicles, like maintaining space and efficiency. Our software helps bridge that gap by delivering high-quality sound without extra speakers or heavy components.”

“With electric vehicles, you have to be mindful of every component. That’s why software-based solutions are so critical. Arkamys uses advanced algorithms to manage everything from sound distribution to speaker optimization, ensuring the best audio experience without increasing the car’s weight or energy consumption. This ability to create a premium sound experience with minimal hardware is a game-changer for the electric vehicle market, where the balance between performance, sustainability, and luxury is key,” he adds.

The 14-speaker setup in the Jishi 01 all-terrain luxury SUV, powered by Arkamys’ SoundStage, offers a listening experience that rivals premium home audio systems using many more drivers.

“SoundStage is particularly exciting because it allows us to offer a level of customization that enhances the unique demands of the Chinese and overseas markets,” explains Delpech. “We’re not just delivering sound; we’re creating an audio environment that can adapt to the listener’s preferences, from rich bass tones to crisp vocals, all through intelligent software.”

One of the standout features of the partnership between Arkamys and Jishi Auto is the potential for future updates. As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, both companies recognize the importance of adaptability. Arkamys’ SoundStage can be updated via over-the-air (OTA) software upgrades, allowing drivers to access the latest audio enhancements without needing to visit a dealership or install new hardware.

“This level of flexibility is critical in today’s market. Drivers want to know that their vehicle is future-proof, and being able to update their audio system is a huge part of that. It’s not just about what’s installed at the factory; it’s about what we can deliver for years to come.”
