About Peter Larsen

Loudspeaker industry veteran Peter Larsen started his career with SEAS in 1974, was Chief Engineer for Vifa 1979-1987, and for Dynaudio 1987-1990. Until 1993, he worked with JBL in USA. From 1993 Peter Larsen has worked as an independent consultant for leading loudspeaker factories all over the world, including Audax in France, KEF Audio in the UK, Goldmax in China, Vifa-Speak in Denmark, Peerless Fabrikkerne of India, NXT in the UK, Microlab in China, and Apple in USA, among many others. During his career he developed hundreds of transducers and complete speaker systems. To support his activity as a consultant he founded Loudsoft, which develops and markets special software for speaker development and design. Since founding Loudsoft, Peter Larsen remains very active as a consultant in all kinds of loudspeaker and headphone projects, which helps him to understand the practical problems and find the best software and test solutions to address them.

This article is the final part of Peter Larsen's tutorial for the design of a complete loudspeaker from transducer to final product. The first two parts of this Loudsoft simulation software system design tutorial series demonstrated the development of a 6.5" woofer and vented enclosure along with a 1" silk dome tweeter. The final step is an appropriate passive network design, which is where FINE X-over software comes to the rescue.
