Sensory Unveils Automotive AI Platform at CES 2024

Sensory, the Californian company at the forefront of voice recognition is now set to capture the automotive industry's attention with the introduction of its state-of-the-art AI automotive platform. For CES 2024, Sensory is promoting a new embedded AI solution, combining advanced voice and vision technologies, that the company promises will not only redefine driving safety but will also revolutionize user-vehicle interaction and set a new standard in automotive technology.

After two years without any relevant announcements on the smart speaker arena, Amazon announced updated versions of its popular Echo devices. All-new Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock deliver up to two-times the bass of the previous generation, add a temperature sensor, double as eero mesh wifi extenders. More significant, the Echo Studio flagship features a new spatial audio processing technology and upgraded drivers to do what it promised when it launched four years ago.

Knowles Corporation, a leading provider of advanced micro-acoustic microphones and speakers, audio processing, and precision device solutions, announced the AISonic Bluetooth Standard Solution, a complete development kit that enables fast voice integration to Bluetooth devices. The kit is built upon the Knowles AISonic Audio Edge Processor IA8201, a high-performance, ultra-low power audio-centric OpenDSP, and includes SDK, pre-integrated mics, and integration support for Bluetooth chips.

As voice controls are fast becoming a primary interaction modality of choice in-vehicle, Strategy Analytics identified that context is key in user experience. Automakers of all types have largely aligned on touchscreen and voice control as the primary modalities for infotainment HMI. While touch-and-voice-centric HMI has achieved a majority market penetration in all major markets, China in particular spearheads voice as the primary modality in many verticals.

STMicroelectronics has released an Amazon-qualified reference design package for smart connected devices leveraging Amazon AVS voice integration, which can be used to create Alexa Built-in products using simple microcontrollers (MCUs). The new reference design eases development of natural-language understanding and voice-based user interaction for smart-home devices and smart appliances, featuring an improved audio front end created with DSP Concepts for far-field audio detection.
