InfoComm 2018 Sets New Records for Size, Attendance in Las Vegas

The Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association lowered the curtain on its first InfoComm show in North America as AVIXA. The InfoComm 2018 event kicked off with a record-setting TIDE conference and concluded with a trade show exhibition that attracted nearly 43,000 registered attendees, 10 percent more than the last time InfoComm was held in Las Vegas, in 2016. A promising prelude to next year's edition in Orlando, Florida.

The third annual Loudspeaker Sourcing Show was again held in Guangzhou, China, which is about an hour by ferry from Hong Kong. The show was hosted by Philip Richardson, owner of Trueanalog Strictly OEM, and his wife Mandy Tseng of ZengBen. The couple created the Loudspeaker Sourcing Show to connect qualified and vetted loudspeaker component, driver, and system manufacturers directly with loudspeaker engineers, purchasing heads, and brands. This is a focused engineering/purchasing event where the attendees meet directly with manufacturers for details and costing at the show.

Musikmesse (11 to 14 April 2018) and Prolight+Sound (10 to 13 April 2018) will once again bring together companies with retailers, professionals from the musical-instrument, event and media-technologies sectors, as well as musicians from all over the world. In 2017, the two events attracted a total of around 100,000 visitors from 144 countries to Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre. What Happened at CES 2018? A lot, quite a lot. More than you think! With 170,000 or 270,000 visitors (depends how you count), CES must be one of the very few shows where the promoters actually try to play down the numbers regarding visitors, also because in practice, no one really knows. There are so many suites and hotels extending the activities of CES throughout the week, that it becomes hard to understand where it starts and where it ends.

InfoComm International is Now the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association

InfoComm International has changed its name to the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA). The change was made to reflect a broadening mission to be an industry hub, while also acting as a catalyst for market growth beyond what has been considered traditionally as professional AV. Its North America show, June 2-8 in Las Vegas, will continue to operate under the InfoComm name.
