Test Bench: The UF295FAS Thin-Profile Dipole 10" Woofer from Neotera

This new 10" thin-profile woofer comes from Neotera, a new company headquartered in Sweden, founded by a diverse group of loudspeaker/electronic design veterans. Maurizio Servadio is the engineer who invented the Neotera Ultraflat technology and is based in Italy where the UF295FAS is manufactured. This thin-profile woofer with a depth of 2.6" and with a low-frequency response down to 29Hz, is specifically designed for dipole system applications. Neotera Audio Introduces Ultra Flat Series Woofers

Neotera Audio, which has manufacturing in Italy and engineering in Sweden, has recently released two rather interesting thin-profile 10" woofers, the UF295CBS, and the UF295FAS. Both woofers have a voice coil and motor structure located around the rim of the cone assembly, and both use and front and rear facing NBR surrounds for compliance. The UF295CBS was designed for small closed box subwoofer applications, while the UF295FAS is a a pure dipole woofer with a Fiberglass/Rohacell dome suspended directly on the voice coil.

Patent Review: Two Pioneer Patents. Same Speaker Invention

This article reviews two patents titled simply "Speaker Device" from four Japanese inventors, on behalf of Pioneer Corp. of Japan. The original and expanded patent describes a flat speaker device capable of emitting loud reproduced sound, using a mechanical structure that converts a linear voice coil motion in one axis to an orthogonal mechanical diaphragm displacement. The system functions much like a scissor-jack you would use to raise your automobile to change a tire. The linear motion of the threaded rod coverts the axial force to a 90° lift movement.

Resonado Partners with Parts Express to Make Res-Core Woofer Available Direct to Consumers

Resonado Labs announced that, for the first time ever, its technology is now available directly to the public. Previously, Resonado's high-performance racetrack drivers, featuring the proprietary Res-Core architecture, were exclusively offered to companies through licensed manufacturers. Meeting requests from speaker builders and developers, Resonado partnered with Parts Express to make the NW7 Gen 1 racetrack woofer directly available to the market.

LG Display announced that it has developed a new Thin Actuator solution with large potential as a new speaker technology for automotive applications. According to the company, the innovative solution will be commercialized in the first half of 2023, meeting the requirements from electric vehicle car makers looking for new-generation sound solutions. The Thin Actuator Sound Solution is one of the many products receiving a CES 2023 Innovation Award (In-Vehicle Entertainment & Safety category).
