Test Bench: SB Audience 44CDN-PK 1" PEEK Diaphragm Compression Driver

The SB Audience Rosso 44CDN-PK is combined with the H250 90°×60° exponential horn. The driver features a 44.3mm (1.75") diameter voice coil driving a single piece PEEK diaphragm and surround, and including a FEA-optimized neodymium ring magnet motor structure, annular phase plug design, and a cast-aluminum damped rear chamber. This driver has a 60W AES power handling rating (120W maximum), with a 1.8kHz recommended crossover frequency.

For this edition of Vance Dickason's Test Bench, the characterization centers on the brand new NERO-6MRN150D pro audio 6.5" midrange from SB Audience, the recently announced brand from Sinar Baja Electric (SB Acoustics). The new NERO-6MRN150D features a proprietary four-spoke-cast aluminum frame with efficient cooling, a curvilinear paper/graphite composite cone and large convex paper dust cap. The motor design combines a FEA-designed neodymium ring magnet and 49.5mm diameter voice coil wound with round CCAW on a non-conducting glass fiber former. This Test Bench characterizes the Bianco 44CD-K from SB Audience, a new brand from SB Acoustics. The FEA-optimized ferrite compression driver arrived with its H-250 90° × 90° exponential horn.
