Peavey Commercial Audio Celebrates Three Decades of MediaMatrix Distributed Audio Innovation

First launched at the 1993 AES Show in New York, MediaMatrix is now celebrating its 30th year of innovation in audio solutions. With innumerable installations worldwide, Peavey Commercial Audio's MediaMatrix has left a mark on the professional audio industry and its technological advancements. As the world’s first digitally configured and controlled distributed audio system, MediaMatrix has grown to accommodate the world’s most demanding commercial audio needs.

ALC NetworX, the developer of the Ravenna Audio-over-IP technology, welcomed Peavey to the Ravenna community. Under its Commercial Audio brand, Peavey offers an entire range of products from the microphone to the loudspeaker, and every link in the signal chain in between. Under the Ravenna partnership, Peavey has developed “sNET” - a single IP-based network infrastructure technology which will work at the core of their future MediaMatrix products.

Crest Audio, part of Peavey Commercial Audio, has announced the PB-32 SoundGrid-to-Dante network bridge that provides the connection between Crest Audio’s flagship Tactus digital mixing system and the new powered Versarray Pro line array system. The PB-32 will enable the audio signal to remain in the digital domain from the desk to the Dante-enabled Versarray Pro PA system. It may also be deployed by any other audio systems utilizing the Dante audio networking protocol, thereby also offering compliance with the AES67 interoperability standard.

With audio-over-IP currently pretty much standardized around Dante in commercial audio installations, the truth is there are many airports and large facilities still based in CobraNet and other legacy protocols. The news that Peavey Commercial Audio is now shipping the new MDM32 Dante network audio module for MediaMatrix NION devices is big for those environments. The MDM32 also replaces the Dante DLM module which may be easily swapped out for the new interface in existing installations.
