Peavey Commercial Audio Celebrates Three Decades of MediaMatrix Distributed Audio Innovation

November 23 2023, 00:15
First launched at the 1993 AES Show in New York, MediaMatrix is now celebrating its 30th year of innovation in audio solutions. With innumerable installations worldwide, Peavey Commercial Audio's MediaMatrix has left a mark on the professional audio industry and its technological advancements. As the world’s first digitally configured and controlled distributed audio system, MediaMatrix has grown to accommodate the world’s most demanding commercial audio needs.

The first project installed using the MediaMatrix - MainFrame was the United States Capitol building in 1994. This installation became a significant milestone showcasing the system's reliability, performance, and network evolution in mission-critical applications.

Throughout its first 30 years, MediaMatrix has been at the forefront of audio technology innovation, marking numerous pioneering milestones including being the first brand to deliver an open architecture drag-and-drop software for DSP configuration and deployment, simplifying the process for audio professionals and system integrators. It was also a pioneer of audio networking, first with CobraNet, followed by Dante, and Ravenna/AES67. MediaMatrix was the first to introduce integrated input through output DSP solutions with support for those protocols, setting new standards for audio connectivity and flexibility.

MediaMatrix is also celebrated for its nWARE and Kiosk2Go software suite. nWARE, recognized for its configurable audio DSP processing, and Kiosk2Go, an industry-leading solution for graphical user interactive audio experiences, which have received acclaim for their innovation and user-friendliness.
Recently released, nWare 3.0 expands its integrations within the Peavey Commercial Audio product line and beyond, offering real-time video streaming with embedded monitoring and control functionality, together with Crest Audio Tactus.Control surface interoperability for live music control, embedded support for Ravenna-AES67 discovery and routing control, as well as exciting updates to the MediaMatrix Kiosk2Go control interface software.

The latest nWare 3.0 release also expands support for the new MediaMatrix SCION media and control processor, along with the 'S' series of input/output interfaces, control processors, and touchscreens. This integration provides a seamless and comprehensive solution for media configuration, offering users increased connectivity options and sophisticated control capabilities.

"We are immensely proud of the enduring impact that MediaMatrix has had on the professional audio industry over the past three decades," says Hartley Peavey, founder, and CEO of Peavey Electronics Inc. "Our steadfast commitment to innovation and our unswerving dedication to our customers have been the driving forces behind this remarkable achievement and our extensive global footprint. We eagerly anticipate many more years of delivering exceptional and innovative audio experiences."

MediaMatrix SCION is the all-new and powerful Media and Control processor, the third generation of DSP and networked audio systems designed by MediaMatrix. SCION transcends its predecessor platform leveraging Analog Devices cutting-edge SHARC DSP architecture and using MediaMatrix sNET, a native AES67 media transport protocol capable of delivering up-to 512x512 networked audio channels from a single device.

MediaMatrix systems are installed in a diverse range of high-profile and demanding environments, including some of the world's largest theme parks, international and regional airports, convention centers, stadiums, mass rapid transportation systems, casinos, and resorts. These installations demonstrate the trust placed in MediaMatrix for delivering exceptional audio experiences in a wide spectrum of settings.

Founded in 1965, Peavey is one of the world's largest manufacturers of professional sound equipment with its Peavey, MediaMatrix, Architectural Acoustics, Crest Audio, Composite Acoustics and Trace Elliot brands.
