The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards 2017-2018 have been announced. Already listed at www.eisa.eu, the EISA Awards 2017-18 recognize performance and innovation in Consumer Electronics, including audio categories in hi-fidelity, home theater and mobile. This year the awards have a strong European flavor in the higher end home categories, with Japan and Asia in general dominating the home theater items. Exception for a US brand, JBL takes two awards in personal audio.

With rumors already circulating for some time, on October 27, 2016, Qualcomm announced a definitive agreement, unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies, under which Qualcomm will acquire NXP Semiconductors. The new M20 Hi-Res DAP is slimmer and lighter than the brand’s previous flagship model, the AR-M2, and is even more affordable, with 32GB of internal storage and expansion using Micro SDXC cards (up to 256GB). Harman, Bluesound, Bowers & Wilkins, Chord, ELAC, Hegel, Marantz, Naim Audio, Pro-Ject, Sonos, Canton, DALI, Denon, Monitor Audio, Panasonic, Trinnov and Yamaha among the winners in Hi-Fi, mobile and home-theater categories. Winners for 2016-2017 will receive the awards at IFA Berlin 2016.
