Resonado Announces Flat Core Speaker Licensing Partnership with Zylux

Audio technology startup Resonado just revealed its first major technology licensing partnership with original equipment and design manufacturing audio company, Zylux. Resonado's innovative and proprietary Flat Core Speaker (FCS) technology will be manufactured and initially incorporated into a range of Zylux designs within the soundbar category, with the expectation to expand into other Zylux produced audio products in the near future. This marks Resonado’s first integration of FCS technology into a wide range of consumer-facing audio-specific products.

Fraunhofer IIS Licenses Comprehensive MPEG Audio Codec Suite to NXP Semiconductors

Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, the inventor of mp3 and primary developer of the xHE-AAC and MPEG-H Audio standards, announced that NXP Semiconductors has licensed Fraunhofer’s MPEG audio SDK. The complete software package covers four generations of audio codecs, from legacy MPEG Layer-1/2/3 to the next-generation MPEG-H 3D Audio standard and the AAC codec family, including xHE-AAC. NXP will incorporate these codecs in home entertainment product development, from set-top boxes and soundbars to smart speakers.

CEVA announced that Goodix Technology has licensed and deployed CEVA’s RivieraWaves Bluetooth low energy IP in its GR551x series of Bluetooth low energy System-on-Chip (SoCs). The GR551x series is designed to help users develop low-power Bluetooth-based products including smart mobile devices, wearables, and connected applications. Fraunhofer IIS Licenses MPEG-H Audio Patents to LG Electronics

Fraunhofer IIS, one of 72 institutes and research units of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization, announced the licensing of its MPEG-H Audio patents to LG Electronics, allowing the Korean consumer electronics giant to produce products which feature MPEG-H object-based Audio. In South Korea, terrestrial ATSC 3.0 broadcasting with MPEG-H Audio is already on air, making MPEG-H the world’s first commercialized next-generation TV-audio technology.
