Lenbrook Corp., the privately-owned Canadian audio company that owns NAD Electronics, PSB Speakers, Bluesound, Bluesound Professional, and BluOS, has acquired the assets of UK-based company MQA. The deal adds significant audio patents and codecs to Lenbrook’s IP portfolio, including MQA's high-resolution audio encoding and the latest SCL6 Scalable Codec for wireless audio applications, which is implemented in the upcoming line of PSB headphones and earbuds.

Edifier unveiled the QD35 – an original tabletop speaker that combines Bluetooth with the LDAC codec and a 24-bit/96kHz-capable USB input, and therefore received both Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. The original design, with a show-through front panel that reveals an intricate maze of light tubes - Nixie tube style - is able to change color and generate pulsating, dynamic effects combined with the audio. And because Edfier is a large Chinese audio equipment manufacturer with the necessary resources, the QD35 is also a GaN charger.

PSB Speakers, Sonical and MQA Announce Partnership to Create Next-Generation Headphones

PSB Speakers, together with hearables start-up Sonical and audio codecs specialists MQA, announced a partnership that intends to define a new category of high-resolution audio headphones. The collaboration is aimed at creating true hifi headphones and smart earbuds, combining MQA's SCL6 high resolution wireless audio transmission and Sonical’s CosmOS platform. Planned for release under the PSB Speakers brand by Q1 2024, the resulting products will be the first headphones to feature Sonical’s ear computing platform, enabling a variety of apps and software upgrades.

xMEMS and Bujeon Launch 2-Way Hybrid MEMS Driver Solution for Hi-Res TWS Earbuds

xMEMS Labs and Bujeon Electronics have partnered to create a family of 2-way speaker modules to accelerate design of next generation high-resolution and lossless audio-capable TWS earbuds. The solution integrates a high-performance 9mm dynamic driver custom-designed by Bujeon with an xMEMS' Cowell tweeter, the world’s smallest monolithic MEMS microspeaker at just 22mm. The reference design combines an xMEMS Aptos MEMS speaker amplifier to create a "drop-in" solution compatible with today’s leading TWS system-on-chips.
