Among the uncertainty of Bowers & Wilkins being acquired (apparently a negotiation process is ongoing with Sound United, the parent company to Denon, Marantz and Polk Audio) and the certainty of the recent restructuring, following the separation from Eva Automation, the famous brand is celebrating 25 years in the audio industry, six generations of engineering, and more than a million products sold. To signal the anniversary, B&W launched the new 600 Series Anniversary Edition, the seventh generation of 600 Series loudspeakers from Bowers & Wilkins.

For the past six years, Audio Research has been owned by the McIntosh Group. Now, TWS Enterprises, LLC, a privately held company owned wholly by Trent Suggs, has agreed to purchase Audio Research from the McIntosh Group, Inc. subject to completion of due diligence which is expected to be finalized by the end of August 2020. As Audio Research celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, the Minneapolis company will embark on the next chapter of its journey in high performance music reproduction.

AXPONA (Audio Expo North America) was originally scheduled to take place in April 17-19, and ended up being rescheduled to August 7-9, 2020 out of concern for the health and safety of all participants due to the growing coronavirus situation. The event would still take place at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center. But now, under pressure from concerned exhibitors, the promoters announced the show cancellation for 2020.

For this edition of Test Bench we characterized the Punktkilde AUGDL0003-JN03, a 1” magnesium-lithium alloy dome tweeter. This transducer, from Eastech’s relatively new Punktkilde line of home hi-fi drivers built in China and designed in Denmark by Scan-Speak engineers, is a tweeter from its magnesium-lithium product line, which includes this AUGDL0003-JN03 tweeter plus 4” thru 8” magnesium-lithium alloy cone woofers.
