Masimo Corporation Acquires Sound United to Expand Consumer Channel

Sound United announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Masimo Corporation, a global medical technology company that develops, manufactures, and markets a variety of noninvasive monitoring technologies for hospital and home settings. Sound United will benefit from Masimo’s expanded organizational resources, while Masimo gains access to Sound United’s consumer-centric brands and distribution channel.

Sonos and Lenbrook Industries reached a settlement in Sonos’ patent infringement lawsuit against Lenbrook regarding the Bluesound wireless audio systems. Undisclosed terms include a multi-year licensing deal associated with all BluOS enabled solutions worldwide. This announcement comes after a patent infringement deal was also settled with Sound United regarding the Denon HEOS solutions. Sonos continues to fight in court against Google to protect its wireless audio patents.

Denon announced a new suite of high-fidelity wireless multiroom speakers, available for purchase in early 2020. Comprised of three models, the new Denon Home focus on its high-resolution streaming capability, as well as the support for AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth sources. Using the HEOS app, the Denon Home speakers can be easily connected and expanded throughout the home to other HEOS Built-in products, including Denon’s industry-leading lineup of AVRs, soundbars and Hi-Fi equipment.

It seems the audio industry is once again pushing two-channel high-quality components, hoping to appeal to the growing market of consumers who are rediscovering vinyl, while simultaneously enjoying wireless streaming and access to Digital Music Libraries. Denon announced its latest high-performance integrated network amplifier, the PMA-150H, directly targeting new generations with the desire to upgrade their listening experience. The compact PMA-150 easily connects all popular digital and analog sources, including CD players, TVs, turntables, and USB devices. Its HEOS built-in technology enables access to music over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wired Ethernet using the HEOS app, or streamed directly via Apple Airplay 2 and Spotify Connect.
